How's it going guys? New to the forum here and looking to get in and have some fun. I'm not to new too the scene, as I've had my 98 XJ for about 6 years. I live in Encinitas and I'm looking for a good group of guys to go wheeling/shooting with. My only problem is that I don't have a jeep in CA. I'm currently looking at picking up an XJ to have here in CA as well. If you guys have any advice or info let me know!
Thanks man. My XJ is in Upstate NY right now. I think I wanna just pick up another one to have out here instead of shipping mine out. I've been spending some time in the for sale sections looking for one. If any of you guys see a good deal let me know.
So you think I should try the auto? I guess I could always get it, try it out and then decide if I want to swap or not. The seller also seems quite a bit more legit. I'll contact the seller tomorrow. I want a rig again so bad lol
What do you guys think about this one? What are some of the major differences between the 95/96 and the later 98's (My other jeep is a 98) NP231?
not many changes from year to year and the NP 231 is in just about everything with a few exceptions.
In CA the seller is REQUIRED to provide a valid smog cert. You can buy a car as-is but there is techniclly no provision in the law for that. The CEL coming on could be anything from a loose wire to a cracked head so there is plenty of risk, as long as you don't mind a lottery.
We'll I'm a mechanic by trade and have multiple diagnostic testers so I'll bring it with me when I go to check it. I just spoke to the owner and I'll hopefully be checking it out later this week. I'm also assuming it has a 8.25 rear? I'll grab the VIN and call and get the info on it when I go to check it out. Thank you for the advice and help I appreciate it!
