Need a good San Diego Mechanic for my Wrangler

I just moved from Long Beach to San Diego and I'm looking for a good mechanic for maintenance, tire rotations, etc that will honor my 100,000 warranty. My windshield has just sprouting nice little cracks all over it (covered by warranty) and I need a tire rotation.

However- I can't find a good one by word of mouth, and yelp isn't helping much

There are only a couple of jeep dealers in town, if that's what you are looking for. Or, do you need a specific brand tire dealer?

What do you have?

what part of town?

Welcome to SD

My informal, and rather biased and personal, review of SD Jeep dealers:

Midway Jeep
777 Camino Del Rio S
San Diego, CA 92108

They give Jeep a bad name and should be banished to Hummer Hell

Rancho Jeep
8010 Balboa Ave
San Diego, CA 92111

I've been to Rancho Jeep a couple of times, totally unimpressed with everything about them. Have never heard a good thing about their service department. From a personal standpoint, I will never do business there

Carl Burger's Dodge Chrysler Jeep
8355 Hercules St
La Mesa, CA

When I was shopping for a new Jeep I stopped at Burger's. I never got out of my truck, the sales staff was that bad. But, I've heard lots of good things about their parts/service departments.

McCune Chrysler Jeep
2340 National City Blvd
National City, CA 91950

The McCune sales people couldn't shift a Jeep into 4WD to save their lives but the parts department has always seemed to have their stuff together. On the rare occasion that I need a dealer part I go here

Bob Baker Jeep
5365 Car Country Dr
Carlsbad, CA 92008

Baker used to have a place in central San Diego. I had gone there for parts a few times and the service/wait was horrible. Never been back since. They may have improved since moving to north county.

If you're in north county there's a Jeep dealer in Temucula that has a parts counter guy who actually drives a YJ (go figure), but he knows Jeeps and isn't flustered by things like an '05 Rubi axle in a '98 TJ. He introduced me to one of their service techs that was building a Jeepspeed XJ in the back. They have hope

I can second the Midway review. They're complete idiots, every last one of them.

Only other dealer I've used is Carl Burger, and don't have any reason to complain.

Good Local Shop

Thanks for the reply and the info about the dealers. I was wondering if there was a good local shop- I would rather support a small business and develop a relationship than go to a random dealer again.

The windshield replacement will be under warranty, and the dealer will likely turn to a glass specialist to work on it anyway, so I'm not too worried.

I drive a 2006 TJ Rubicon Unlimited. I bought it right before the last camp jeep. I only have about 33,000 miles on it.

When we ived in the San Diego area we took our cars to Top Value Tire on El Cajon Blvd. The owners name is Collin, he was very honest and reliable. Since we have lived in Temecula I found The Auto Doctor to be the best shop in the area, Dave also is a member of the Inland Jeep Freeks.

I will second and third this one. Dave knows Jeeps. I have referred others to him and they are happy as well. Worth the drive. He and his wife are avid Jeepers and are honest and friendly. They are priced right too.
AAA+++ rating.
