THIS Friday April 8th 2011 Meet and greet at Callahans 7PM

hello everyone, thought i should finally introduce myself. been reading alot and posted a couple times, but im really not the kind of guy to socialise over the internet, i am new to san diego and bought my first jeep, a 98 tj, had a friend with one back in high school who got me hooked.

i have a proposal, i got this idea from a bowhunting club i am a member of in iowa. we would get together every monday night(beacuse everybody hates mondays and it gave us something to look forward to) and basicly sat around and swapped stories and drank beer, it was a good time i thought it might be a thing that could be fun in the jeep community plus, like i said i am new to san diego and it would be a great way to make some friends that know more about jeepin then i do. let me know what you think.

Wow, not a single response

We used to have a meet n greet every once in awhile and we seem to have faded away. There's a couple of groups of people that get together every few weekends and do some wrenching, allegedly, although it's usually more talk and

If this doesn't work out feel free to invite yourself over anytime. I'm out of town this weekend but next Saturday is probably going to be a wrenching day...

like steve said, just keep an eye out for people doing wrenching parties. thats more the SD jeepforum version of a M&G. or watch out for wheeling trips, sometimes we actually wheel our jeeps too, weird i know.

"wheel", what is this "wheel" of which you speak

Next Sunday is redneck weekend, off to NASCAR, but on Saturday we'll probably be at Jeff's working on his RV and putzing with the Jeeps, which is where we seem to spend way too many Saturdays

But weekend after, or sometime during the week after work, bring it by and we'll give you lots of second opinions, some might even be helpful

hey i appreciate it, if somebody can give me some contact info, that would be great, too many people around me dont know anything or just give me crap about how i shouldnt be so hard on it, thats not what i need, i know i shouldnt drive it like a tank, but why even have it if im not going to feed it a bunch of abuse. i just need to know what to fix when i break it. im confadent in my abilities to fix what is broken, but not so much in diagnosing what the problem is. the fact that there are people on here so willing to help out means next time i get paid im going to donate, you guys are awsome. thank you!

Best thing is for Austin to pick a time and place, or it will never get off the ground.

If he announces: "I'll be at x place at x time for happy hour" a few might show up, then more the next time.

From my experience, after work is better than the weekend. Too many conflicting plans otherwise.

Get there early, today is opening day at Petco

I must go there

For an M&G tho, my experience is that we should look for a place that is somewhat centrally located with lots of easy parking because a large amount of time will be spent doing the Jeep doggy sniff, hey, what's under your rear end

It's funny because while there is no shortage of bars and restaurants in San Diego it's not that easy when you factor in parking and showing up with anywhere from 2-12 people or more. Here are a few that I put together for another list. At least lets list all the options for now and future use.

-Callahans
Huge parking lot. Have not been there for a while so no idea how busy it gets but the place is pretty big.
There is also an El Torito and Fuddruckers right near by

-On the Border, Mira Mesa or Mission Valley. Parking is pretty good but the bar area is small.

Mission Valley

-San Diego Brewing Co.
Usually packed and parking is a challenge. Have to go at an odd hour and for sure when there are no games on tv.

-Camels Breath Inn
Big parking lot and not usually busy until late.

-Pal Joeys
On Waring road. Huge parking, not usually crowded. No food but there is a taco shop and Fosters Freeze next door.

-Seaus
Lots of parking but usually packed and expensive.

-Bennigans (is it still open?)
Bar area is tiny.

-Islands or Oggis near Costco.
Plenty of parking both have teeny bars.

-Players, Clairemont
Big place and if the parking is full there is Wal Mart right behind. Not normally crowded unless there is a big sporting event on tv.

-Bullseye, Chula Vista
Great burgers and not generally too crowded. Lots of parking

-Fuddruckers or Hooleys at Grossmont Mall in La Mesa

-Joes Pizza, Clairemont.
Tons of parking and a big place. They have a pizza buffet as well as a menu. The service is a little weird; they either come to the table or make you order at the counter depending on their mood. Always friendly though.
