Big FUN 4x4 offroad event coming up at Ocotillo Wells October 15/16

Hey guys, I hope to see you at the upcoming Operation Desert Fun run in San Diego County at Ocotillo Wells coming up October 15 and 16!

Click on California Association of 4WD Clubs, Inc. :: Don't wait to register for Operation Desert Fun for complete details and for online registration.

This is a charitable fundraiser for our disabled military veterans so not only is your $35 registration fee tax deductible, it helps out our deserving disabled veterans!!

Lots of fun runs for anything 4x4 from stock to wild. There will be runs you can take your stock SUV mall cruiser on to challenging runs that require lockers and 33" or bigger tires.

We always have disabled vets attending the event and they have a great time. They gave it up for us, it's time we gave it up for them in return.

And last but not least, there is a BIG RAFFLE for cool stuff Saturday night. Winches, tires, tools, lockers, ham radio gear and Technician ham radio license courses, etc. are the usual items we give away and who knows, you could walk away with a new winch or a set of awesome tires!

Do it! Click on California Association of 4WD Clubs, Inc. :: Don't wait to register for Operation Desert Fun and register. Even if you can't attend, simply registering with your $35 registration fee will help!!! Dash plaque included!

Check in starts Friday afternoon but the serious offroad runs themselves don't start until Saturday morning. See the above schedule though. There will likely be runs on Sunday too who wants to go on them but many elect to get up early Sunday morning & leave after breakfast.

You can always get there early Saturday morning to check in, pass the required safety check, and then go on Saturday's runs. Just be sure to stay for Saturday night if you want to be there for the big raffle. Friday-night check ins are common for weekend events but, again, you can always just check in early Saturday morning. They start accepting Saturday registrations pretty early Saturday morning, somewhere pretty close to 6-6:30am or so. Runs normally start 8-8:30 or afterwards.

I am either going to this or camping/fishing/hiking up near Julian. Decision to be made within a week.

Mom's apple boysenberry pie with cinnamon crumb crust and home made cinnamon ice cream.....
Buffalo burgers from Julian Inn....

Or Jeeping with a bunch of dusty old farts.

Decisions decisions....

I hear the raffle is pretty good tho'. And wheeling Mut Rut is fun....

Hey here's the easy answer Rik... just stop off in Julian on the way out to Ocotillo and bring the pie with you! I could definitely get into some apple boysenberry pie! I might even have a little single-malt scotch for you in return.

Signed,
One of the dusty old farts.

If I don't take the kids fishing I'll take you up on that offer.
They have been bugging me to go fishing (waste of a perfectly good worm in my opinion).
I'll know more next week. Either way, I'm going to register. Good cause.

Hi all!!
I think the wife and I will be signing up for this. As we are noobs to all this it should be a good time for a meet and greet and support a good cause as my wife is a disabled vet. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Will this be an open area for tent camping? I didn't see any info on the camping arrangements.

It's complete open desert. Camp anywhere except in the road.
