Big Bear Aug 8-9

Gonna be up in Big Bear. Trying to put together a run Sat. Aug 8, and maybe Sun 8/9. Who's interested. Calsouth is itching to run some trails.

subtlety was never one of calsouth's strengths. What he meant to say was he would really enjoy seeing you all again and running trails with you since he'll only be home for 2 weeks.

Big Bear is a GREAT place for everyone from beginners to guys who want to try to climb vertical ledges. Most every trail has a bypass at the harder spots, the weather is AWESOME, scenery is amazing and the company is 2nd to none..... All of you trolls and creepers need to step up and use your jeep for what's it's made, bought, and intended for. I'm trying to get that Fri and Sat off. If I can I'll head up Friday mid day and get there in the afternoon and stay there til probably Tuesday.

The trails can be done with a 2" lift and 32's so what are you people waiting for?

Welcome to the forum. We might meet at the Discovery Center or some other spot. Haven't figured out where yet. If you don't have any armor on it you better know what you are getting yourself into. You are welcome to join in.

and 4 drs have a hard time on a lot of the big bear trails unless you are pretty lifted. Tight turns and lots of rock negotiating. Very easy to high center one of those jeep limos

That's what winches and cameras are for.

Family vacation. Rented a big house across the street from the lake. We have a parade of family coming in and out all week. My nieces and their husbands for a couple days, my brother and his wife for a couple days, my other niece, a family friend and her daughter.

Gonna rent a boat/pontoon for a half-a-day cruise, tube, etc. Borrowing a trailer to bring mountain bikes, and bring up two kayaks.

I am looking to ease the family into going off-road, I bought the jeep used and it is done up fairly nice. I am not sure all of the mods that were done, but it is lifted, on 37's, has a winch, on board compressor, some underside armor, etc. I am sure as I meet with some more knowledgeable Jeepers, they will be able to help me out with figuring out what all has been done on it. I believe it has been regeared, but I am not positive.

Then it sounds like you are good to go. Jump in, take it a step at a time, and enjoy it. it doesn't really matter what trail you are on, there is always opportunity for body damage, breakage, and even flipping over. last year some guy flipped his XJ on the pancake rock trail, in the middle of an easy part because he picked a bad line. Everyone here is supportive, but they'll razz you and each other mercilessly (in good fun). Its all about having fun.

Common sense doesn't tolerate roll-overs. If you have one, you'll usually be with out the other. It's just a matter of picking the right one.
