Stainless steel hardware

Hi guys,

I was looking at the following hardware for my 86 CJ7

http://www.quadratec.com/products/13019_203.htm

I have a replacement fiberglass tub, and am wondering why you wouldn't use stainless steel with fiberglass as it says in the product details? I am looking to replace the body hardware with something which won't rust.

Thanks,
Greg

Its not that you can't use stainless with fiberglass, this kit is meant for a steel body so the bolts would not fit through the extra thickness of a fiberglass body. Anybody else can respond if I am wrong. Totally stainless sells individual bolts.

Not sure if you have a Fastenal store near you but they are also a good source for SS Hardware. As far as the Fiberglass body goes the hardware will probably be long enough but on the Metal bodies there are a lot of nuts that are welded into the body, you will not have these on the F/G body so you would probably need to get nuts separate. Just my 2 cents.

1987 YJ, 258, Weber 32/36, HEI, Custom Sound bar, Hardtop/Sun-rider/bikini tops, 2" Lift, 1/2" Boomerangs, 1" Body & MM Lift. 32x11.5x15 Copper STT's on Black Rock 950 Lobos w/4" backspacing, Still need Front Bumper and Seats.

So, the kit would be fine, just buy some extra nuts? That sounds like a good plan, thanks!

GH let us know how it works if you buy the kit and just buy extra bolts... I'm sure buying the kit and some extra bolts would be more cost effective than buying everything single.
