So I recently painted my new rockers with rustoleum black hammered finish and the paint is completely dark grey. I was wondering if I could just hit them with a few coats of matte or flat black to darken them up? I really don't want to have to strip them back down and re primer and paint again. Any thoughts would be great.
So a buddy of mine suggested a coat of primer again, is this a good idea? I was thinking hitting it with some sand paper and a coat or two of primer before another 2-3 coats of satin black.
If the paint that's on there now is fresh paint, not oily and you use the same base paint then primer is not necessary.
whats important is that the part is clean, and dry. sanding is good as long as you don't hit bear metal.
I see that this is an older post but for those searching.... I wouldn't bother with sanding/priming a recent hammered finish, a good cleansing with some grease and wax remover should get a decent result.
