First time painting

Can someone explain this statement:
When sealing, final sand repair area with 320400 grit sandpaper. If directly top coating over primer, final
sand with 400600 grit sandpaper.

The term sealer just means if you are using a sealer primer,such as an epoxy primer that can be generaly reduced to 20% to make it a sealer

What iron worker said. You can use epoxy or urethane sealer. Basically it fills the 600 scratches and covers up any cut throughs you may have providing a uniform surface for your top coat

Also if you have any bare metal spots larger than a silver dollar you should use an epoxy sealer vs. Urethane
