Best wat to remove old bondo

Starting to refurb my tub and fenders, what's the best way to remove old bondo the po slapped on? Its covered in some rattle can. I was thinking just a 40 or so grit and sand it off. Anybody have a secret trick to doing this?

To remove bondo, you'll have to sand the hell out of it. Use as low grit sandpaper as possible and just go to town. That's really the only way I know to remove bondo from anything.

Angle grinder, 24-grit disc, and go to town on it. It's the only I know...

Oh, and wear a good dust mask.

grinder is the only way, unless it looks like chunky peanut butter then a chisel might work!

I read somewhere that paint stripper softens it but I haven't tried it.

Paint stripper will also loosen it. Put as with any use of stripper it must be completely removed and neutralized or it will cause paint problems. Also its expensive.

I can't think of a stripper short of Aircraft Remover that'll take cured bondo off. That's solid polyurethane, with fiberglass shards mixed in. I know, back when I was making props, paint stripper didn't hurt bondo at all, even though it thoroughly stripped and dissolved paint. (And lungs. Except mine, because I had a respirator) Had to manually remove stray bondo.
