Came with my 05 rubi....... IMO the gearing ratios are to close together from 3-5th. hate the shifter feel and pattern and it is louder than my old NV3550 was.

I miss my 3550 in my 02 wouldn't mind trading someone if not for the work involved.

I have this in my 05 rubicon. it has only 50,000 miles on it and my 3rd gear synchronizer is going out.. i have to shift it into third slow and after rpms drop some so it doesn't grind...

grannted im not the first owner so i dont know how the person before me drove it. i bought it with 30,000 miles and it worked perfectly fine.. although puting it into reverse was a pain from the start of me owning it... itd seem as though it went into reverse and as soon as i let go of the clutch it would grind and id have to try again. howevor i have heard this problem from a few people here on the forum..

my jeep is lifted 3' on 35's and has done two trips to uwharrie from west palm beach FL (about 900 miles)..just to show a little what its been through

One thing i would do imediatley if your planning on geting one of these is change the fluid to pennzoil synchromesh or PREFERABLY royal purple synchromesh as people have expierience better outcomes with it..

once i changed my stock fluid to pennzoil synchromesh shifting into third gear has become alot easier (probably even easier if i put royal purple in it instead of pennzoil) and reverse really hasnt been an issue with the new fluid..

First gear on this tranny is practically unstopable its so darn low. and as mentioned in a review earlier sixth gear could be a tad pit higher for highway cruising..

otherwise i guess its a pretty good tranny considering the amount of mudding and rockcrawling its been through
