Price: $75.00 Pros: all around better than the blown vc 249. pricless peace of mind for me when the wife uses it in bad weather no thinking needed for her. Cons: having a hard time finding rear output seal Recommended? Yes
Comments: ok my 249 like all the rest locked the vc. this is our dd mostly my wifes. so if it was just mine i would have gone with the 231. but she is not a gear head at all. the ease of the 242 is a perfect fit for her. and i do not need to worry about it at all.

Price: $750.00 Pros: Full time (wife approved) transfer case, also has part time, and low range Cons: not so many aftermarket options for it. Expensive to replace if needed. Recommended? Yes
Comments: Very happy with the NP242. I know my wife can just put it in full time during the winter and I don't have to worry about her binding the gears.
Advanced Adapters has a SYE kit but you have to call them.
