Comments: I bought this used and it still works as good as new. I like having the radio right there at my finger tips when I put my arm on the armrest. Front legs are easy to bolt down. Rear legs are a little bit trickier. Still looking for best option to hide speaker and power wires from being exposed since the radio is no longer installed in the dash.

Pros: Tuffy console protects my valuables from rain and the low life wondering around. Built out of thick steel with a tough integrated lock. This product is a great buy especially if you can find one for cheap. The cupholders can also be moved from the front side to the back.
Cons: I wish the box was completely sealed to better protect against water. Also there needs to be a hole connecting the stereo compartment to the main compartment for wire routing.

Comments: Much more complicated to install than the one in m YJ. The 6 speed shifter set up looks a bit unfinished, there are two open slots closest to the seats. Overall very capable product.

Comments: Easy to install, took about an hour - including drilling three holes through the bottom of the body tub. Provides a handy, safe place for storing things like my CB, flashlights, etc. Has a separate compartment for a standard DIN-sized stereo. This locks when the main lid is closed and locked (can also be left open when the main lid is closed).

The one thing I'd like to see is the inclusion of a hole in the main box large enough to accomodate wiring - if I wished to mount the CB inside the box for instance. As it stands I'd have to drill my own hole. Not a big deal but it seems like it would be easy enough to provide this, prior to the paint being applied, at the factory.

Otherwise I love it.

I got this console with the insurance money I received after my Jeep was broken into. The thief tried to steal my radio and tore up my dash. I haven't had any major issues with this console. It is a great product that does exactly what it's supposed to. I never worry about my radio being stolen again.

Comments: I had been looking for a center console for almost a year to replace the horrible home made contraption the previous owner had installed. I was deciding between the MaxBilt and the Tuffy Console, for me it came down to customer service. I emailed MaxBilt several times and never got a response, the rep from Tuffy responded immediately and verified my measurements ensuring that the console would fit. He even gave me tips on how to run stereo wires etc.

So I ordered up my tuffy console and boy is it impressive. Its solid and heavy, it feels super high quality. After doing some prep work to make sure the console would fit the way I wanted it to I noticed that it was quite easy for the surface of the console to get scratched. This to me is the biggest flaw of this product, the finish seems to easily scratch. I really wish Tuffy had coated the outside of the console with some sort of textured vinyl finish. It seems silly to paint the outside of the console and have it get scratched up every time something rubs up against it.

All in all I am very happy with the console, the 67 degree mount is a little bit odd, but it is very convenient. I wish tuffy would release a list of stereo manufacturers who's product would work with the console, as this would be easier to narrow down the options. At this point its kind of a crapshoot to figure out which stereos will work without skipping and which ones won't. I am still trying to figure that part out.

If you are looking for a well made console that will give you piece of mind for storing your valuables, this is the console to get. The customer service is excellent, the sales reps are patient and take the time to answer all the questions that you may have. The product design is well thought out and functions flawlessly. I just wish at this price point that tuffy used a more durable type of finish that doesn't scratch so easily.

Comments: Installed this product in less than a day. Never felt more secure about my stereo and misc. items in my Wrangler. The locking mechanism for these units are just about bulletproof. I really have a hard time remembering what it was like before I had one of these. I am currently on my second Tuffy console and have loved both of them. They really stand up to abuse. My new one has cupholders, a slot for my CD player and serious storage space for just about anything. I would recommend these to any new Jeep owner as a first interior upgrade.
