Rubicon Express now offers a 4 1/2-, 5 1/2- and 7 1/2-inch long-arm suspension system with its new rear Tri-link conversion for the Jeep Unlimited and TJ models. The kit includes front and rear control arms using 2-inch, 0.250-wall, 4130 chromoly material. Also included with the kit is Rubicon's newest misalignment joint design, "The Builder Ball." This setup eliminates the rear track bar and has up to 32 degrees of misalignment in a giant-sized 3-inch OD housing. The rear Tri-link is also available separately as an option for previously purchased Rubicon Express suspension systems.
Price: $3,000.00 Pros: I absolutely love this kit. The on road manners are great. Ride is great. Off road handling and capabilities are unmatched. Cons: Tough to put in. A lift is encouraged. Recommended? Yes
Comments: The Axle truss is a bad design. The top 3 bolts for the truss are the top 3 bolts for the diff cover. I did a gear job after I had the kit on and removing the rear diff cover was horrible. I had to completely unbolt the truss and use a pry bar to get the diff cover off. To get the truss back on I had to use a pry bar and a big hammer. Poor design. RE sent a box full of loose hardware. Had to mix and match. Front control arm hardware could be of a greater quality. The brackets for the rear upper control arms are tricky. RE claims that there are frame tie-in brackets with the kit but mine didnít have any. I just welded the brackets to the mounting locations on the new cross member. That took care of it and havenít had any trouble since. All in all a good kit tho. Iím mainly listing the problems that I have experienced. If I would list everything I loved about it this review would be too long. Hope this all helps now go out and get yourself one of these kits.
