Of the many factors OME considers when designing Nitrocharger shocks, valving is the most important. In fact, it`s the valving process that sets Nitrochargers apart. our OME engineers are specialists who do nothing but 4WD suspension.

Features that make the difference:

Tough urethane bushes for extended life
Steel stone guard provides maximum protection for the piston rod - where the design allows
Super strong 18mm chromed piston rod
Low pressure Nitrogen gas for optimum performance
Tough twin tube design with super strong 1.6mm thick reserve tube protects vital internal components
Supplementary top & bottom welds give added strength and safety

Price: $75.00
Pros: better than stock ride
Cons: none
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I got these shocks to replace the Rough Country 2.2 shocks that came with the 2.5" lift kit. They are much much better riding both on and off road and I would definitely say they are even better than stock without the lift.

Pros: Smooth controlled ride, easy install.
Cons: Price
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Just replaced some no-name shocks with OME Nitrochargers, N35 and N36, on the four corners. What a difference! Previously the Jeep was very harsh and you felt every bump and crack in the road. Worse, there was a lot of body roll around corners. With the Nitrochargers the ride is very smooth and body roll is well controlled. Feels like a new Jeep! Highly recommended!

Pros: Excellent ride, a nice balance between good control but not too harsh
Cons: They do need to be matched with the proper spring
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Been running the OME's now for about 2-3 years. When I first put them on they were an upgrade from my old budge boost shocks (Doeshtec DT3000s). The ride was so-so since I was still using stock rear springs and spacers and some unknown no-name "HD" 2" lift spring up front (to deal with a winch).

It wasn't until I installed some progressive rate springs that allowed the OME shocks to really shine. The ride now is very good. Excellent balance between control and smoothness that's taken the edge off the sharp small bumps on the road. Offroad the Jeep feels like it's running on marshmallows vs. the old setup.

In any case, the OME shocks are nicely valved for the TJ provided you get appropriately matched spring rates. The rest of the shock is very well built with bar pins pre-installed and vulcanized to the shock bushings so they won't slide around on the bar pin and clank on the frame.

Price: $1,567.42
Pros: 4 shocks included as part of OME Old Man Emu CY-to-YJ Conversion Kit produced by Rocky Road Outfitters.
Cons: As mentioned in the related leaf spring review, products took awhile to get from Australia, but the imported ARB was very very helpful and expedited the one missing shock overnight without charge.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Really a great, heavy-duty product. Although I was happy with the KYB units I had prematurely installed, after this new Jeeper realized that the leaf springs needed to be changed, I opted for the longer OME springs for a YJ which also lifted the vehicle about 2.5" - 3.0" From the quality of it all, I would anticipate this set lasting for another 35 years. 1975 Jeep CJ-5

Pros: Poly Bushings upper shield
Cons: Upper rear bolt area gets tight with the upper shield, still possible.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: N66 and N67 installed on my TJ w/ 2"bb, and 32"s around 16" rims.

Ride is nice and perfectly smooth. you can tell it was designed for the TJ and not every truck with the same shock dimensions.

Pros: Great ride better than the stock. these are the nitro sport installed with the ome heavy duty springs
Cons: Not my favorite color
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I installed these ome nitro sport shocks with the ome heavy duty springs and love the ride. This is the first lift that I have put on one of my jeeps and I got 4" of lift out of it. The ride is great no swaying or feeling top heavy. It really smoothes out the washboard vibrations on county roads.

Pros: Gas CHarged and they aren't hydraulic
Cons: nothing

Comments: OME are the premier shocks on the market. If you can swallow the price they are worth all the money and time spent putting them in. From the road to the trail they are a great all around shock and I would use nothing else.

Pros: Very sturdy Good ride quality
Cons: Urethane bushings squeak
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Before adding the OME 2 inch spring lift, I had just recently replaced my stock shocks with Edelbrock IAS, so I can't help but compare them to the OME shocks.

I think the OME shocks are a bit stiffer than the Edelbrocks, probably because I have the heavy duty OME shocks. But the OME shocks are part of the full OME suspension system, and have the increased travel, so they are ultimately a better match. They seem to be built much sturdier than the Edelbrocks, too.

I would like to try a set of the OME comfort (N35C and N36C) shocks and see how they compare to my HD N35 and N36's.

Pros: Best ride
Cons: None

Comments: Excellent ride on a YJ. I don't know of another shock that will give a YJ a great ride like this. Yj basically does not have a suspension - very rough - but.. these smooth it quite a bit. I don't know why they don't make them longer to fit in 'really' lifted trucks.

Cons: None

Comments: These came as a part of my OME lift. After several trips to Moab and in the mountains of CO I think these give about the same ride that the JK OEM gas shocks that came stock. They seem well matched to the OME spring set and I have no complaints as of yet. About 10k miles as of this writeup.
