This is definitely a conditional item. I'm not a very good driver off-road yet, so I tend to drive in to a lot of rocks. I'm hoping that this glide plate with smooth out some of the hits. Unfortunately, after measuring before/after the installation, there is a loss of .75" of clearance. I will be feeling a lot more hits with that kind of clearance loss. I think this will be good for my style of off-roading, and should help a lot with my driving-into-stuff problem
I just installed it two days ago and haven't been able to test it yet. I'll post again once I've smashed it a couple of times.
Installation was very easy, you just remove the lower 5 bolts on the diff cover and bolt this on, then install the metal strap over the rear side of the diff housing. This does NOT work with the Rugged Ridge Dana 30 skid, so I had to take it off and just retain the factory cover. It is supposed to work with most aftermarket covers though.
