ROKMEN TJ/LJ Steering Skid Plate
The steering box on TJ and LJ model Jeeps® hangs below the front bumper and is a magnet for rocks and other debris encountered on the trail. The ROKMEN Steering Skid plate protects the vulnerable steering box, giving you more confidence to tackle the tough trails.
Unique mounting allows the skid to mount closer to the outside of the frame rail; therefore not causing interference with torsion style swaybars. The ROKMEN skid is a full 1 1/2" wider than the competition's steering skids to give your steering box more protection. Constructed of 3/16" steel that is fully TIG welded for superior toughness and great fit and finish.

Cons: Rust! if you only get the reg finish it rusts over in a matter of months. Should have got the black powder coating.

Pros: Very stout!!! This thing is heavy duty.
Cons: Had a little trouble with self tapping bolt. Had to run a real tap through hole. Not a big deal.

Comments: Goes on quickly. Remove two bolts, put the skid in place and reinstall the bolts. Drill one hole in the cross tube between frame rails and install a self tapping bolt and that is it.

Comments: I picked this since it is wider than most. I had no problems with the install but expect to have to drill a hole in the frame cross member and use a self-tapping screw there. It's a great skid. It's not in a place I've hit often but gives me piece of mind that I won't have to worry about my box.

Pros: Excellant construction. Welds are awesome. Very Very Very heavy duty.
Cons: Instructions aren't the best. By that i mean they should tell you, you may need to grind some of the steering box frame mount a little bit. Second fit was not great out of the box. I had to slightly enlarge 2 of the 4 bolt holes to get it to fit properly and this is after i had to do som grinding.
Recommended? Yes
Comments: Other then the fact that it took 3 weeks to get here i am very impressed with the skid. A little miffed at the initial fit but a little grinding here and there and fits great now. Cant wait to smack it on a rock!!
