Clayton Off Road skid plates are the ultimate in off road skid plate protection. The main skid plate is a 2 piece design. The cradle is laser cut from 3/16 metal and bolts into the OEM frame rail locations. This holds up the transmission reusing the stock mount and bolts. Once this cradle is bolted up, the 1/4 flat skid bolts to the cradle using counter sunk allen head bolts. This gives you a completely smooth surface to easily slide over any obstacle in your way. Servicing your drivetrain is now also easier, by simply removing the skid plate while the cradle will keep the drivetrain in its proper location. The oil pan and engine skid plate are also laser cut from 1/4 steel for maximum rock dragging protection. The oil pan skid plate comes with a front bolt in bracket which holds the front of the skid plate using counter sunk allen head bolts. While the back attaches to our main skid plate with another bolt on bracket. No oil drain holes is cut because it will slightly weaken the skid plate, plus add a hole you may get hung up on. Some customers have chosen to drill a 3-4 inch hole to make oil changes easier. Many customers simply drop the oil pan skid plate section by removing the 7 bolts. This skid plate combo will fit on stock Jeep Wrangler TJs and works perfectly with our long arm setup. Any Rubicon model does REQUIRE a 1 inch body lift. On 2003-2006 models you will gain approximately 1.5 inches, and on 1997-2002 models approximately .5 inches. All skid plates are shipped bare metal out of the box.

Pros: Extreme in every way. Tight precise fit.
Cons: Had to get it powder coated myself. Would be nice if Clayton would do it for an additional $$ from the factory.

Comments: Very nice two piece design. I have a Rubicon with a NV241 transfer case so I had to install a 1" body lift and a 1" engine mount lift to get this "tummy tucker" skid installed due to the t-case size. Nothing hits and the fit is very precise. One piece of the skid stays in place after you remove the lower skid plate so that you can get to the t-case to change fluids, etc. I got it powder coated gloss black for an additional $80 locally. I wish Clayton would offer that option from the factory.

Cons: Extremely heavy!

Comments: Eat your wheaties before planning to mount these babies! Strong as anythign but heavy as sin. Smart 2 part design allows you to get to the important stuff without worrying about the transfer case falling

Pros: Awsome Skid!
Cons: None
Recommended? Yes

Comments: This skid has an integrated crossmember so cleaning the skid is a breeze! The actual skid itself is 1/4" thick steel so bashing it on rocks is a no-brainer. Highly recommended when going with the Clayton Long Arm kit.
