Rugged Ridge Polished Aluminum Air Intake Kit

Want more horsepower, better throttle response, and improved acceleration? A Rugged Ridge Air Intake System can boost your performance, while helping you keep extra cash in your wallet. Our polished aluminum mandrel bent intake tube replaces the restrictive factory air box to help improve fuel economy and performance. A black powder coated heat shield separates the filter from engine heat, dirt and debris, as cold air is drawn through a high-flow conical air filter. Unlike other reusable air filters, our dry panel design never needs oiling, which keeps your air flow sensor from being damaged by excess oil! The simple bolt on installation gives you power you can feel, adding up to 10HP and 12ft lbs or torque, depending on application. Fits 98-06 with or w/0 AC. Fits 1997 w/o AC.

I got this for 179 from quadratec "military discount". Great looking intake and easy to install. Sounds good and noticed a bit more power. My jeep in 6th gear will gain speed when i use to down shift to speed up.

The only thing i did to add to this kit is, installed a water proof air filter cover from outerwears. That was around 25 bucks. Just to have piece of mind wine driving in heavy rain and puddle stomping.

Installed the intake and TBS in about 20 minutes. I was hoping for increased fuel economy and increased power. Got the power, but no change in fuel economy.

Increased torque and throttle response. Looks great under the hood, and I noticed a couple miles per gallon extra while driving 250 miles straight on the interstate. This paired up with an exhaust gives you some extra horsepower. Definitely has better get-up-and-go to pass someone now.

The price was right, but I got what I paid for. There is a stud bolt that mounts the polished intake tube to the new air box with a rubber isolation bushing to allow for engine movement and vibration. The angle of the bolt and the way it attaches to the airtube is poor at best. It has come loose several times so far, which allows the tube to bounce around excessively, which in turn, shook the filter element loose from the intake tube.
I didn't want to spend the money for the K&N or AirRaid units, so I went with this one since it was so much cheaper. Wish I had gone with the Rusty's Airtube instead.

Very good product overall and does what it claims. Bottom mount is poorly designed but after replacing it with a rubber exhaust mount costing $5.95 Aust no more problems. Noticeably smoother power delivery with a nice note.

For the price this is a good cold air intake. At full throttle the sound is nice but that sort of defeats the purpose of using it to save gas. It looks nice and the heat shield cools the air a bit.

For criticism, the tube is too close to the battery terminal and it's not too securely attached like the factory box.

If I'd had more money, I would have gotten a better intake. But for the price, this is a decent product.

Really great and relatively inexpensive item that replaces the stock and constricting air box on any Jeep V-8. Tough construction and a VERY nice air cleaner make this a better deal than a similar K&N product that is priced at least $50 more. Does need a bit of drilling/fabricating if you want to keep the heated air functional though. May need a spacer depending on which carb your engine has, but they are about $5 on Ebay.
