what i did here seein as i own an older RENIX 4.0L (no one makes **** for these engines so ya gotta do it your self)

any way i took a piece of 3" stainless exhaust pipe in a 12" length cut the needed holes for the hses from the airbox i brazzed on the needed fittings and went out and got the biggest K&N filter they had(6X9K&N w/3" mouth) slapped it all together and tossed that crappy old restrictive airbox and havent had a regret

Comments: This is a wonderful mod to be on the safe side. If water crossings are on the list of offroading adventures then the snorkle is a must unless you like replacing motors.
