Dodge Power Programmer III - Increasing horsepower and torque is as simple as pushing a button with Hypertech's Power Programmer III! You simply plug the Power Programmer into the underdash diagnostic plug answer a series of Yes/No questions and the Power Programmer does the rest.
Comments: There is no installation, just plug it into the diagnostic port and answer a few questions. It will save your factory setting so you can put it back to normal if you have to take it to the dealer for any reason. You can program several power settings. I leave mine on power. I have to run premium fuel or it knocks. But I do notice a differance in the power levels.
They have a dyno chart at this site.
Comments: I had this product for about 1 week on my Wrangler. After purchasing it, I uploaded the program at the lowest octane setting, I did notice a small improvement in HP, however when using LIGHT throttle going uphill, the motor would knock and ping worse than a arcade game.
I called the manufactorer and they said to use a higher octane fuel (because I had header/catback/intake mods)...I said no thanks, if I want to use 93 octane all the time, I'll just install a supercharger and get real HP improvements.
I returned it for a full refund. This may be a good investment if you have not done any mods or very few mods, but I would avoid this if you have a full aftermarket intake/exhaust.
Comments: If your Jeep isn't lifted then the gas saving program does help. As far as the more HP program, well I tell myself that its there, but high grade is way to expensive right now.
Improved MPG
Able to pull CEL's
Other cool adjustable options
Cons
No power gains

Comments: This was my first powertech product. Got it used and cheap. Got me better MPGs and I can adjust tire size. Beyond that, buy a superchips if you are in the market.
