This muffler has a very good sound. I am using the 2 1/2 inch tubing and duel exhaust and the mufflers sound great. They are a little loudr then the regular 40 series.

Comments: For the 4.0L, the Super 40 by FM is awesome. Some break-in smell is normal for about a week after install. Nice, deep, throaty exhaust note.

Comments: This muffler is actually the Super 44 offroad Series - it is diamond plated and sounds awsome - the only muffler I will ever buy!

Comments: Local muffler shop had one of these lying around (it was a take-off). I got it for $75 installed. I LOVE the way it sounds. It's awesome. Not too loud - just right!

Comments: Overall a good exhaust. Provides a nice rumble outside of the Jeep and the interior noise level isn't bad (just a bit louder than stock). Also was a stock replacement (2.25" C/O configuration).

FlowMaster Super 40 series
Pros: Good Construction, Nice tone, Black
Cons: Loud
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I just put a super 40 on my TJ, and I can say its louder than I thought, it has a nice deep tone but its a little loud when you give it some throttle. I haven't ridden at highway speeds yet but I'm going to guess there is a slight "drone" sound hen you settle into a speed. Overall though a nice product. For a stock TJ you need 2.25 in Piping, Center Inlet, offset outlet.

Here's a pic of mine going in:

FlowMaster Super 40 series
Pros: Cheaper, better sounding
Cons: Possibly less airflow than other brands
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I just recently got a new cat and flowmaster 40 series put on my '97 TJ. Its all new piping from the cat to the tailpipe, and it gives it a very low "grunt". While accelerating, although not the same tone as a V8, it has a very low and pleasant rumble as well as a slight muscle-car sounding resonance. I've had flowmaster on 3 different cars now, and I have to say I've been pleased each time.

FlowMaster Super 40 series
Pros: Gives your V8 the sound it should have
Cons: Slight drone at highway speeds
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I've had the FM 50 and then went to this muffler, and when combined with the Carsound Cat or even independant of it, this muffler provides the best sound for a 4.7 IMO.
