i rebuilt my CJ a few years ago just like you're doing..i know how much work is involved and your doing a great job!..

Hi folks

some update frome today.

Installed the bumpers.




Was not so easy to get these fu.... pieces into the right position





Gasoline tank is in place:




I was tired working in all the dirt and rust on the floor. So I decided to clean the garage. Since I have a rolling chassis it's easy




Looks good:




Added some parts to the motor:






And finally the rear kardan with new u-joints




That's all for today.

It's a pity that it is only a 4 banger. But I saved him from the junk yard.

Reserved at my Jeep dealer a 79 CJ7 with original 304 V8. But unfortunately the hall where the Jeep was stored, cracked under the load of snow . The CJ is still in the ruins. Don't know what exactly happened to the Jeep, hope he will salvageable .

Hi,

Saturday is "Jeep-Day"

Short Update:

Front drive shaft with new u-jounts is installed.




Gear absorber installed. Unfortunarely I forgot to intall beforehand. Lifted a little bit the gearbox with a jack to get it in place.




And some crazy work cleaned and painted the exhaust and catalyzer. I know it will not last for a long time, but I didn't want to have any rusty parts on the Jeep

I know you have the 4cyl but they look similar to the YJ 258, they look so much better that the early model 258 and I prefer the serpentine belt...

Thanks for the compliment I try to do my very best. I have never done something like this before and I'm a total layperson.
But we (my son and me ) learnt a lot meanwhile and it is really a fun to do the rebuild.

Because I have bought all the tools, welder etc. we are planning to do a 2nd restoration. I have reserved a 79 CJ7 with 304 V8 at my dealer. If this will be the next restoration, it will become a "Silver Anniversary" style. Don't know if there ever was a CJ7 "Silver Anniversary" (saw just CJ5 yet), but I like the build of CJ579. It's a great looking Jeep . It's a pitty that he has to sell it

The nuts of the body bolts "disappeared" in the body, so I have to cut:
