Roll cage time!
1389917770587.jpg

I should have ordered windshield hinges already so I could get this thing in this weekend. Sparrows, did you ever get those measurements? If I knew where the windshield is supposed to be I can put the cage together.

On another note, since I took my hard top off the vibes from my rear driveshaft went away. The weight of it must have thrown off my pinion angle. It is actually peppier without the top too. I'm thinking about selling my hard top and getting a soft top...

Thanks man. Probably length of spreader and height from bottom of door opening. And any other dimension you thick could be relevant.

Long day in the garage yesterday. Got it all tacked in but the 2 from B hoop to the windshield bar. Gonna have a lot of gaps to fill with weld. I don't know if it was an issue on BTFs end or mine, but I got it as tight as I could. Tomorrow I'll put a few more tacks on the joints to make sure it doesn't move when I pull it out to burn it all together. 1390184138575.jpg1390184274536.jpg1390184323937.jpg

Took a lot of grinding on the spreader bar. It looked like the bar rolled before they cut it. On both sides if the notches fit well on the B pillar the inside of the windshield end hit first. 1390184560861.jpg

Paint your whole cage when you pull it to weld and paint. That green on black is terrible haha!
Cage is awesome though.

Cheers

I actually like that green, but it does look fugly with black. I had roll bar padding on it all before so it wasnt noticeable. I'm gonna do grey or silver after its all welded in these next couple of nights.

I test fit the doors and they fit fine. 1390244735602.jpg

Also got the overhead tubes tacked in
1390244769065.jpg

Here are some shots that show some gaps. I think they notched some of them too deep. If I closed the gap by moving the tube it would create a bigger gap on the other end so I just found a happy medium. 1390244860184.jpg1390244878938.jpg1390244896395.jpg1390244914440.jpg

Got the spreaders to fit nice and tight on the windshield bracket 1390244953224.jpg

Got the cage over to my friends shop and welded up this evening. I tacked all the tubes in with my flux core so every time we hit a tack or some slag the pool would just fizzle. He was getting so frustrated that my welds were starting to look better than his

I'll get some paint on it and back in these next couple days.

Its probably alittle of both factors-mass produced cage pieces and a 'slightly' tweaked jeep buddy... just get them as close as possible like you did and fill...LOL it will definitely be better than what you had. I might recommend just spending a few bucks on a welding blanket and burning it all in the jeep. I did the last couple cages like that. it will shift when you melt it together, they can be a ***** to get into and re-install in the tub afterwards.

all of this was done in the jeep with the exception of the front H so I could get all the way around on the cross bar

have fun buddy....

Haha thanks Jim. I was thinkin "damn that guy posts fast"

We tried to weld 1/4 of each radius at a time and skip around so hopefully we didn't get it so hot that it moved on me. We shall see when I got to bolt It in! Stupid app finally let me post a pic.

Hey if you can make it happen... Weld in a Bar behind your seats between the main hoop. Locks that hoop together and get you a place to attach a harness when u go that route. Also put a rear spreader bar at the rear of the cage. You can make those really easy. It's simple and will at least help alittle bit to keep it from completely folding.

Looking good. I like cage work. Lol

Forgot.. If you decide to do that. Put the cage back in then cut/tack weld. Ask me how I know :-)
