Im gathering parts to build a new steering setup. I'm going with 3/4" heims from Ruffstuff. I got the heims and all the goodies ordered yesterday during their sale. A pal on the forum got me a great price on DOM but I didn't think about it hard enough and ended up getting 1.25"x.25" wall. That leaves me with a .75" ID but the weld in bungs need a 1" ID. I could get thinner wall tubing but whats the point of that? After thinking about getting a 1" drill bit and possibly not drilling them straight, I'm gonna take it to a local guy and he will drill each end out on a lathe and face the tubing all professional like for $60. Its gonna end up costing me more than the Ruffstuff kit would have, but my tubing will be smaller for better differential clearance and about just as strong.

appears to me.................white wire from pcm [tach] to green wire on stock yj harness, fire wall connector pin C5 might have to have the pcm reflashed with a different cylinder setting if your RPMs are off. I will try and remember to talk with my GM programmer tomorrow.

No I haven't gotten any farther on the tach. I'd like to have one but it's not too big of a deal. I have a wire from the Vortec harness that is labeled, I just don't know what I may need to do on the Jeep side. I've seen people with 4 cyl tachs hook them up and say it works fine, or flash the pcm to output a 4 cyl signal. I've also read something about adjusting the OE gauge. If I found something aftermarket that was reasonable and was plug and play I'd be happy with that

copy that.... well then here you go buddy. if you want to go with something like this PM me and we will make it happen. we are now a speedhut dealer...
http://www.speedhut.com/gauge/GR338-...PM-Shift-light

using the stock tach may just work, yeah maybe worst case you would have to reflash the ecu.. but having a tach like that ^^^^ one, would be cooler, even with the auto

heres the gauge cluster for the silver ls TJ I just did... eye candy that functions !!!!

I don't want to have to reflash the PCM unless I send it to you and have you handle it. It took way too long to get it back last time. But Wayne will supposedly reflash for free, I just have to pay shipping.

I do like that gauge though. Is that the right size for a YJ bezel? Will it just be the 1 wire hookup? PM me with a price buddy

I'm sure it will be after the holidays though...

When I get to the shop I'll look it up buddy. I'll double check the stock Yj gauge size. Yes it would be singe wire to the tach signal, power and ground.

Thanks a lot Jim.

My Ruffstuff heims came in today. Hopefully I can get my knuckles drilled out and get my steering set up soon.

This fuel pump is driving me insane. I got a headache from the whining just sitting in a drive thru tonight. Any ideas guys? I may just pony up for a new pump. Recommendations on a replacement? Bosch?

I find it strange that I have good fuel pressure and the whine changes when I turn a corner or shift from reverse to drive etc. Like the fuel sloshing quiets it down.

Well I just ordered a new sock/strainer and filter element for my Russell fuel filter. If that doesn't quiet it down I'll get a new pump. It's gonna be hard to get the old lady to put up with it while wheelin if I can't fix it

You need a different baffle system....and/or get the pump lower in the tank.

Is it quieter with the tank full???? Is the pump as low in the tank as possible??? How "far" down in the tank does it go? Specifically-what's the depth of your tank and what's the depth/length of your stock fuel system? Stock YJ stuff is what 12" deep at the pickup? That tank looks/appears way deeper than that.

Get the pump lower and then stuff some actual baffle material in the tank as well. We use it in race cars. I betcha a dollar doing both makes a big difference.

I know I still need to get the pump lower in the tank but I don't see how that could be the problem since it doesn't quiet down when I fill it. I overfilled it last time before wheeling, enough so that it leaked out of the cap on steep climbs

I lowered the pump as much as I could (about another inch) without fabbing up another bracket but it needs another 2" to sit on the bottom of the cell.

Still fighting the loud pump huh?
Did you investigate all that stuff we talked about?

Cheers
