no you dont want to do that... tomorrow when the sender gets here i will get the wiring colors for you so you know what factory was! you can get a test light and multimeter and figure the wires off the new unit are, if you dont want to drop the tank. i put up the the tank for the hemi tj and had to add the 05 plug and pump assembly to it. the new plug only comes with 'blue' and 'orange' wires. well my 'plug diagram' either got accidently thrown away or plum lost. i had to figure out what the 4 wires did again, no i didnt drop the tank.

I've never been poor, only broke. Poor is a state of mind. Broke is a condition brought on by Jeep ownership and a heavy right foot.

Does the 05 pump fit into a 97-04 tank? I thought the pump was physically bigger around? If it does, that would be the easy way to do a LS swap for fueling, since the 05-06 puts out the correct pressure.

Don't worry guys I didn't blow myself up. My tank is still down so I just pulled the sending unit. Black-ground, Orange-power to pump, brown-fuel level.

Now just to find out where the orange wire ends...

Since I am still waiting on my damn harness what do you guys think about getting my exhaust done? Is there anything I should worry about for interference?

The only thing I can think of that involves the exhaust and wiring clearance will be the starter wires and O2 sensors.

That's what I was thinking. If I could get Wayne to reply to my messages I would ask him where everything will land. Anyone have any input on this?

Clint, I'm reading through your build thread again, awesome work buddy.

I know Wayne doesn't do the harnesses. He sends them out to a guy he knows that always seems to be backed up. I can usually get a hold of him on Pirate in a day or two. Have you tried calling? 509-340-3911

Thanks for the compliment.

I have been sending him messages on Pirate. I sent my friends pcm to Wayne with mine and he could never get a hold of him on the phone. His reply was "this is a working shop with welders, a dyno etc. email is best". Not trying to talk **** on the guy but the lack of communication is frustrating. I understand that he passes the harnesses on to his friend Hummertech, I believe, but he is the one that I paid so I feel he is responsible. My check was also cashed a couple weeks ago.

I have only dealt with him on my PCM. He had it turned around in a day. I messaged him on Pirate a few days ago and he got back to me in two days. It sucks that people charge cards or cash checks before they ship things out. I never figured out that business model. That's the problem with small companies sometimes though.. If they get busy, or go on vacation, or go to an event, you are going to be waiting. I had similar issues with Savvy, and they are supposed to be one of the better ones.

Im actually ok with him cashing my check. I would want to make sure the funds are there before I put in the time and materials. But you should also let the customer know whats going on, even take the initiative. I run a small business so I know how it is. I got a message on 3/28 when he shipped my friends pcm but no return message since about my stuff. Thats the drawback about the 4 wheeling industry, during KOH you can forget it

welcome back...

up here that's just a decorative orange protective cover

bummer youre having issues getting the electronics back. Im with you on the communication thing. A 2 minute phone conversation goes so far in business/customer relationships. I have a business too and sometimes all people need to hear is a person on the other end... even if their stuff is backed up or delayed... they just want to hear something

you should be able to just pull your swing bolt out of your existing pedal, drop the clutch and brake pedals out and insert the auto pedal and swing bolt. we do it with the TJs, been a minute since I had a YJ but I believe it can be done the same way.

clint.. no unfortunately you cant drop the 05 pump/regulator assembly into a 97-04 tank, they changed the tank molds in 05-06. they changed the regulators to allow for 59PSI of fuel pressure vs the 49PSI regulators in the 97-04. the physical electric pumps IIRC are the same and will put out over 80psi+ of pressure, its just the regulators and tank set ups that limit what can be swapped. there in lies the reason for an adapter for the 97-04 tanks. it will allow the use of the stock in tank pump and sender. should be pretty cool when its done. novak has one but mine will be better

when it comes to exhaust, you just really have to make sure the guy knows what hes doing and LISTENS to you. you need to have the jeep DONE when you take it for exhaust work. if it isn't finished [starter, wires, front driveshaft etc] when it goes, most definitely you will have some kind of issue when it comes back.

I have seen exhaust run under the front driveshaft, up against the body etc... make sure you tell him your concerns and needs, constructively of course.. no good exhaust guy wants to hear somebody tell him how to do his job... he just needs to hear exactly what you want, what he can and cant do. mine on the hemi, hugs the drivers side block, under the motor in the shallowest area, meets the pass tube, they run parallel back to a '2 in-1 out' flowmaster, then single out the back. I paid $250 including the muffler.
