Thanks everyone! Haven't gotten much done lately since I have school everyday and work 6 days a week but I squeezed some time in today after school and got the rear tube fenders mocked up.
Crappy picture sorry have some in camera but its been so long since I updated anything so here is for now. Might change the part that ties into rear bumper. I had another piece with two different bends but I made the second bend to sharp and that wasn't going to work so I tried just the one.
I also drove it today and remembered brakes are pretty much gone and steering is pretty damn loose. So hopefully ill get the fenders done so I can throw that axle in. Cutting the leaf brackets is going to be a pain in the A!! But my dad and I are looking at a plasma cutter to purchase together so that could be pretty nice if we get it in time.

Scott are you planning to not use your rear lights anymore?

Will you be cutting the sheet metal along that tube?

No, I played with one of the lights today since it was cracked. I cut it diagonally to match the tube but didn't really care for it. Might use it as a temporary thing but my plan is to make metal housing for an LED brake/blinker where the tube turns into the bumper.

Hopefully next week I'll pick up some sheet metal and cut out the wheel wells. Inside the jeep will get some tube similar to the main piece for the fender which will be the inner fender and shock mount. The sheet metal will box all that in and come out to the middle of the tube fender which I'll weld a bead down than smooth out put some putty on their make it all pretty and what not.
hope that makes sense and hopefully It will be done soon

my question for you scotty is did you want to get more tire coverage and/or make a flared version for the rear tube?

Have you considered cutting the sheet and running the tube flush with the body?

My masterpiece of a paint project explains my idea in more detail:
-cut the sheet metal marked with the blue arrows
-run the tube under the body marked with green arrows and flush
-have the tube run straight to the end of the bumper
-somehow run an LED brake and backup light

just an idea

Looks good man! I like the fuel cell. I orginally planned to use one, but did a skid instead. I think I may have to go about it again being as low as my XJ is.

That's exactly what I want to do to my YJ. Make a rear slider that ties into the rocker slider and rear bumper would really save a lot of weight over a full corner armor and be more effective, it looks like your going to add a lot sheet metal so that may not be true for you but I will look awesome and protect your corners!

I don't have a bender so I can't make my own tubes, would you possibly be interested in bending me some tubes like you are doing for your XJ?

For 15-20 pounds in tubing? I get bent tubbing shipped to me from trail tubes a lot and shipping is not expensive at all. UPS to ship from Maryland to Michigan would probably be no more then $30 bucks.
