Stability is not a characteristic in favor of leaf springs over a well set up 4-link/coil setup. Simple and cheaper, well yes.

Chevy leafs are fairly soft though and are more stable than regular xj packs. Agreed though on the 4 link trumping it but i vote budget minded!

Well I would rather do the 4-link but I brought it up with my dad and he was not having that because of the time it would take. His car can't stay outside to long or else a bird will **** on it and all hell brakes loose. Hopefully another beautiful warm day will come around and I can try to grab some leafs from a jy for cheap. Started getting different measurements for a cage yesterday before work.

Not much going on lately waiting for that pay check to come in. Yesterday I did repaint the sliders, cut some pieces out and welded them to fill in that hole in the inner fenders, and then painted them with undercoating. Emailed a guy with chevy springs the other day waiting for him to respond with the measurements so I can hopefully pick them up soon.

Sold my 8.8 today so got me some money for some DOM which I will hopefully order this weekend. I think I have a pretty good idea of how much I will need to get started.

Patched up a whole today that was letting in all kinds of water and filled it up with gas for tomorrows snow storm. I've been looking at several cherokees to get ideas for a cage and I think I have everything just about figured out except the D-pillar. I think the inner fenders might have screwed me on this . I'm messing around with it on paint right now trying to figure something out.

Going to go with a hybrid I don't really care for the b c and d pillars on the outside. The a pillar will be on the outside. Ill post some pictures of the jeeps I've been looking at in a little bit.

Is the tube the inner fenders made out of strong enough for the cage to mount to? Looks like it would be really easy to weld you C and D pillar to them.

sir, you have no c pillar

looks like the b pillar will be easy enough - don't think the fender tubing will be in the way.

d pillar is going to be harder now that you already skinned it, i'd cut the horizontal fender tubing at the back where there cage pillar tube has to come down, then after the cage tube is in weld the cut fender tubes to that. I would not recommend breaking the cage tubing for the fender tubing. I'd also tie the shackle hanger into the cage attachment point.
