That jeep hasn't had plates for years ha and the only way it would pass inspection is if hellen keller was the one doing it.

Ha I was talking about my jeep in the picture. Don't worry that year will be over before you know it and you'll be cruising.

tomorrow hopefully the rain will die down and I can move the plymouth out of the garage so I can bend some tube. carpet and interior was ripped out the other day so if I cant bend some steel Ill prep the inside for welding.

you tubbing it out? Sweet! You should integrate some shock hoops into that tubing

That is the plan, just need to figure out how. The hoops will probably be separate from the inner fender which I'm not thrilled about but cant find another way of doing it, I originally planned to put brackets on the top of the inner fender to mount shocks to but that would put them right on top of the leafs.

move the shocks to the inside a tad and make a shock mount on the leaf spring plate. I've seen mounts for the top (center) of the spring plate also.

I wasn't to sure if that was good for the geometry of the shocks but after doing some reading turns out it is so that solves that.

Just about finished up inside yesterday.

I'm welding tube to 1/4 plate at the floor which I'm regretting due to the thickness. Having a horrible time trying to weld the plate to the floor, burned through the floor on a couple spots and its just looks ugly. The plates will get bolted down so il just put a couple beads around the corners and sides and hopefully not burn through. I think Friday night I'm going to stay home and just practice welding all night.

Turn your voltage and wire speed down and then burn the 1/4" and wash the puddle into the sheet metal floor. You may also find that more gun angle (pointing the wire into the puddle and focusing the arc on the 1/4") will help prevent burn through on thin sheet. If you try to weld it like a normal joint between two same thickness pieces you will play hell trying not to make holes in the floor.

I fought with the sheet metal unibody when I was welding Chuck's 4 link on so I know how difficult it can be.

That's what I've been doing I lowered the voltage as low as I could get it and still burn through the 1/4 which and made the wire speed a little on the slow side so I could get it to puddle up and drag it to the tub which worked it just ain't pretty. Tomorrow I'm going to practice though and try different angles which I think will help its just hard to get a good angle when sitting in that small foot space in the back.

What I really need is to find me some welding classes over winter break.
Come show me the ways mike
