The ACOS are working great. The only problem I have with them is being able to get the front end high enough to take the weight off the springs so i can adjust them. An engine hoist works good for this.
I just ordered the Novak NP231 shifter assembly to resolve my issue with the linkage hitting the body mount when I attempt to shift into 4WL. Picking up a transfer case seal kit tonight so I can tear down my case and my parts case to replace whatever is jacked up in my 231 (it sounds like a lunchbox locker in 2wd and it is very hard to shift....when you can actually get it to shift). All that work should be happening next weekend.
Sweet lookin' xj! what kind of road manners does the aussie in the rear have? I've read all kinds of conflicting opinions about that.
also, where is that place you did the shake down run at? I am going to school at OU and I've been lookin for some place somewhat close to wheel!
I read around quite a bit about the Aussie and was conflicted at the time I bought it. I couldnt be happier. Most of the funny handling and odd "unloading" times I read about were exaggerated. It is noticeable, but as long as you dont drive like Paul Walker, it is fine. I would make the same choice if I had to make it again.
If you would like, PM me your info and we could meet up in a couple of weeks and I will show you around. I need to get my shifter in and tear down the transfer case to find out whats the cause. Once I have that resolved, it will be ready to hit the trails again.
Luckily I have a parts case from a 1988 that I can rob parts from for whatever is broke. Getting a seal kit but wont be getting any work on it this weekend.
a. because the stock ones hang down really low and catch on everything
b. because they came with the u bolt eliminator kit
c. because I had already torn off the axle shock mount on the passenger side
d. because I could
nice XJ man. like you, i am not pleased ONE BIT with my RE lift. the springs are horrible after about 18 months. how do you like the BDS leafs now that theyre broken in? do you wish you wouldve gone with 4.88's with the 35's?
Completely stock, and keeping it that way...
Thank you. The BDS leaves are great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again....not to mention they have "Made in the USA" on them, not "Made in India" like the RE leaves had.
35s and 4.56s are fine. I dont regret it. If it wasn't a daily driver that sees a lot of the highway, I would have gone with 4.88s. 4.56s seem perfect with 35s on a daily driver. I finally have my passing abilities back....lol.
