Winston XJ, The Build

A couple years ago in grade 12 my father purchased me my first vehicle, all excited about finally owning a vehicle i decided it needed a little work done to it, thats when i came across jeep forum. unfortunately i dont have a picture of it the moment i bought it, but it looked something like this,

minus the pinstripe and rims,

I started out like every kid in highschool by putting a sound system in,
i went with the cubby hole sub, deck and 4 speakers, sounded pretty good i thought

then i got some custom bumpers from a fellow jeeper who was making new bumpers so sold me mine for 250

while in winnipeg i notices the sound from the cubby hole sub was horrible so i built my own box, and storage box. funny story about this box is that i didnt have ANY power tools, took be about a decade to handsaw all the pieces, and due to the fact i cant measure it took even longer.

then my friends dad got my a good deal on a cb radio and gave me a antena a coax cable AND mounting hardware

Then i drove home to british columbia for the summer, with all my lift parts collected and about a week of yelling and broken bolts winston was finally lifted 3.5 inches,
this pretty much sums up my build...(dont worry i worse safety glasses )

i used jk shocks, v8 grand cherokee coils, and coil spring spacers, in total my lift cost me about 200 dollars, and i got clear corners which i thought looks better

then i took it offroad for the first time ever

next up was new tires, originally i was going to get bfg all terrains but thought they were played out, so i bought hankook atms rf10's, got a good deal and got to buy it from a local shop

then i realized it rubbed really bad on my control arms....so i decided to get some american racing rims from a member of the bcjeepclub

and i put some kc's on at some point while doing all of that,

next up was making winston better at not rusting, so i removed the trim and painting my lower panels black and added a yellow pinstripe, painted my calipers and my drums, yellow as well

then i went back to winnipeg, wheeled with the red river jeep club

got a roof rack from a club member

then got stuck while parking in a big pile of snow at the school...

Awesome Jeep. I love the salvage yard lift setup! Great way to save money and learn about the suspension at the same time!

thanks guys, and yah the salvage yard setup was a big learning curve, actually this whole jeep has been,
due to the fact i cant afford to take it to a shop, nor do i trust another person working on my jeep, before this jeep i didnt even know how to do a oil change, or what a leaf spring was
