Wheelers For The Wounded Jeep
Thought I'd post up what has been done to the WFTW Jeep. Might give some people an idea of what they'd like to do, or might just be nice to look at...dunno. Anyhow, enjoy the pictures.

There's still a bit left to be done to the Jeep. As for the trailer, obviously there's more work left to be done on that as well. The Jeep and trailer are both expected to be completed by the end of March. The WFTW program kicks off in Florida on April 4-5 and I will spend the next 6 months traveling the country attending all the WFTW events. I hope you all will participate in an event near you. I'll post pictures as more work is done.

Awesome build. As a serviceman, Thank You. What you are doing is an honor. Though I've not been wounded thus far (God willing). It is nice to see someone doing something like this in honor of those who have been.
I get home from Kuwait back to Indiana in July. Hopefully I'll get a chance to attend one of the events. Again, great build. I can't wait to see more. On a side note, what did you do with the factory axles. I'm thinking about dropping a JK Rubi front under my TJ. But they are hard to find.

Thanks for your service. The idea for the program came about when a Marine on my team in Iraq lost both his legs to an IED. I wanted to take him off-roading and camping when I returned from Iraq, and it just grew from there. Most guys in the military are into off-roading and camping, so it was a good fit.
The Dana 44's were given to the shop (Overbuilt Customs in Jacksonville, Florida). Brad (the owner/operator of the shop) is building my Jeep at no charge. I thought it was only right to give him all the take-off items. I'm not sure if he's done anything with them or has plans for them, but if you're hard up to find some, you could try contacting him. His website is www.overbuiltcustoms.com. Be sure to check out the gallery on that website...some AMAZING builds! |

I'm glad you all like it. With 6 months of off-roading and camping coming up, I obviously needed a capable rig. Also, I felt the more extreme the Jeep and trailer were, the more attention it would bring to the program and our country's wounded service members.
Here are a few updated shots of the trailer. Coupler, which allows for articulation while off-roading. ![]() In the next few photos you'll see a white object at the top front of the trailer, lying flat. That is a table storage area with the table mounted. ![]() ![]() View from the rear. ![]() ![]() My trailer is on the left. The trailer on the right is sitting on 31" tires. The height of my trailer's frame is 5 feet 4 inches. ![]() Last edited by JasonWFTW; 02-22-2009 at 10:16 PM.. |
