wooo hooo! sand blaster said drop the frame off anytime. just gotta blow out the inside, spray the outside down with some gunk, steam pressure wash it and pick up a 30 rack and she'll be gettin blasted. i love it when projects start gaining some speed, especially when its your daily driver!

Might wanna drill and reinforce some drain holes on the bottom of the frame, to keep this from happening again. Will also give you easier access for cleaning.

we have been talking about this quite a bit at the shop.... tossing the idea around of welding/closing off most of the holes and keeping 2-3 per side where they would be most beneficial, and then plugging them with an expansion plug of some sort.

this way i could blast the sand/salt/most mud out of the frame completly yet still drain or wash it out by removing the plugs.

tho this little project has been fun, i do not want to do it again ANYTIME soon.

if we dont end up welding the holes closed i still plan on finding plugs for all of them

dropped the frame off at sandblaster today, picked up beer, self-etching primer, chassis saver, brushes, clearcoat. picking her up tomorrow. im gunna have a busy weekend woot woot!

thank you all.

picked up the frame after class today, and delivered the 30rack of cans and 6pack of coors light bottles (YUCK) but hey it beats having to pay for it . We got the frame home and i spent 40 minutes blowing the sand and any remaining debris off and out of the frame. then about an hr the d8 sander taking off some of the grit, then another quick blow down, them wiped the frame down with prep all to remove and any all remaining oil, grease, grime (at this point how much could be on there?) and finally, finally, FINALLY i got to hit it with the first coat of self etching primer. another coat or 2 in the morning and then spraying her down with Chassis saver

ready to start layin some layers!

pics are:

how many pollocks does it take to mix chassis saver? apparantly you dont have to but we did anyways.

she really had to snap a pic of me mixing it?

a few pics of me spraying the saver. what a pain in the *** to get it in all the nooks and crannys

while saver was drying i started tearing down the d30 to get it ready for regear. came apart pretty easy. found the drivers side bearing was replaced not to long before i bought it a year ago. still nice and shiny!

pulled the diff cover to drain fluid. not pretty but not aweful. spent some time cleaning the diff cover and getting all the old gasket off so rebuild can go super easy

work got interrupted i told diesel to leave me aone but he insisted and then dropped the stick on the drill i was using so what was i supposed to do?

after 2 coats of chassis saver had dried, we scuffed the frame, blew off the dust, prep-alled it, and then painted with tractor/implement paint. think we used a touch of hardner in both the chassis saver and paint mixes with 15% reducer

will lay the 2nd coat of paint tonight and then its on to the tub

looks good man, thats the point in my build where it picked up speed like a fright train!! it kept on rollin.. the tub rust slowed me back down a little bit, i sucks having to coordinate outside sources for help such as sand blasting or powder coat ect.. back to the frame, i used eastwoods internal frame coating for mine. a bit pricy and i was skeptical until i used it. its amazing stuff, check out the video online because like you i want my jeep to last another 20 years!!

thanks liftedyj91. a buddy also suggested the eastwoods but im glad you got a chance to use it and give feedback. looks like i'll be ordering some. how many cans do you suggest?
