The stock LSD is pretty well worthless. I have it, and the only time it ever pulls is when the tires have close to the same traction. It worked alot better when I first put it in, but after wheelin on it the way I wheel I think the clutches are worn out.

However I'd still take a stock LSD over an open diff any day of the week. Trust me you don't want a lunchbox rear locker, your jeep will drive like a full on piece of ****.

So is it general consensus that I should get a front locker, then leave the rear open until I get the money for a good locker? Thoughts?

Just trying to figure out what route to go with this. I haven't researched lockers much.

True. I'm thinking of an Aussie up front, but I don't know yet.

Lockright for the front. Currently the cheapest and it's the highest quality of the available lunchbox lockers. For the rear the cheapest you should go on a locker is a grizzly or detroit. A lunchbox locker is trash in the rear. Selectables are nice, but for the money a detroit/grizzly is the way to go IMO. I agree with Mason though, even a crappy stock LSD is better than being open. Open diffs are weak too, the spider gears become the weak point in the axle.

IMO, a rear locker provides more benefit than a front locker. However, it is cheaper to lock the front first, and it is still a HUGE improvement over stock, so I would throw a lunchbox in the front first if I were you.

I wouldnt go simple on a whole axle purchase. Save the hassle spend the extra $$ and have it done right the first time.

Do a selectable locker
Shafts
Whole 9 yards.

The rear end is probably the most important to beef up seeing it sees 5x more stress than the front. Build it and forget about it. That's the way I like it.

Alright. If it comes with an LSD I'll take it, but I'll have to consider not getting it depending on how much extra it is, because that money would towards a good locker.

I would definitely go with an Aussie up front, a 30 ain't worth enough to put anything else in. And if I were you and getting a ecgs 8.8. I'd definitely Atleast get it geared.

If you can make friends with someone with a welder though then you can save a whole ton of cash. I have less than 300 in my 8.8 from gears to brackets to truss. But I also geared it myself.

Good point.
Stupid question of the day: if I eventually swap in an HP30 will the Aussie still work in it?

Yes, it will. I swapped my Spartan from my LP30 directly into my HP30.
