That transmission itself is far from ideal, but that's just my opinion.

That's up to you. Depends on how much highway driving you do. 4.10 would be great around town, but without overdrive your rpms are gonna be high when you get above 60. Plus you don't have a front axle that matches it.

Well I drive home from Boone about 2 a month, maybe less. And I'd say its probably only about 20 miles or so that I'm 60 or higher. Usually 50 or below.

I guess I'll just be on the look out for a matching front before I pull the trigger.

If you want to build a hp30 I have a good 4.10 ring and pinion I'll let go of for cheap. Gear setup might kill that for you though.

Hmmm. This kinda changes a lot now. Because I was planning on getting that 44 since it had 3.73... I mean I still could, but I can't wheel until I get a matching front. I might just get a 44 and HP30 whenever I have the money and just build them up while I run what I have now.

It's probably going to end up being the easiest route. In the meantime ill keep an eye out for a cheap 4.10 30/35 pair to throw on for the time being.

So since I no longer have a spare tie rod, I'm thinking about getting a brand new one and using this one as a spare. Any recommendations on brands? I see crown has one at quadratec.

Oh, and the replacement TRE I got not too long ago has already rusted. Pretty sure it was MOOG...

If you are being a cheap *** go with a ZJ tie rod. Otherwise, Currie or GTFO

I have a ZJ tie rod. I guess I wasn't being completely clear. I'm looking at another, new, ZJ tie rod and using my old one as a spare. I can't afford currie steering right now.
