Turbo Wj 4.0

Hey everyone! I have successfully completed my mission of turboing my 2004 grand cherokee with the 4.0. I finished the job about two months ago now and have been driving it ever since. Running premium gas I was getting some engine ping around 4 psi of boost. I have since bought an aem piggyback fic and tuned out the knock. I currently have the wastegate set at 5psi and the power is great. When I get more comfortable with the tuning software, I will up the boost to 8psi. I was thinking about putting a few more kits together and selling them. It would be relatively easy for someone mechanically inclined to install. Relocation of the battery and modifications of the tray are needed. I made brackets to install the modified tray. Any comments or advice would be appreciated. Pics will be posted!

Sorry guys! I'm having problems loading pics. I'm out of town this weekend and am trying to upload them by phone but having no luck. I'll do it by computer tonight when I get back. I havent put in on a dyno yet. I may do that when I have at tuned great at 8 psi. I'm having trouble tuning as I am new to the software and trying to do it without a wideband. I may have to give aem some more of my business for a wideband lol.

Did you modify the header or is that off 1 cylinder?

An intercooler would take the efficiency through the roof. I personally wouldn't waste my time with a hot air intake. Timing and boost will be low and risky during the hot months. You're on borrowed time doing any tuning without reading AFR's.

I love me some boost though! Good luck with the build.

I did not modify the header. I rerouted the exhaust from the passenger side of the oil pan back up to the top of the engine bay to the turbo.

As far as the intercooler goes, I would like to do an intercooler however I am limited as to how much room I have. My air intake temperatures shouldn't be getting crazy hot with the low amount of boost I'm running. I will be ordering a wideband. The only issue I'll have with the install is the fact that my header is split in two with two cats side by side then it goes into a coupler. I will have to just pick a bank I guess and only be seeing afr based on 3 cylinders.

Put the wideband O2 sensor in the downpipe.

After turbo? I have two cats before turbo. Will it be an accurate reading?

It needs to be pre cat. Do you have to have cats for emissions? Those are choking the power pretty badly I would think.

Normally post turbo would be optimal, but most turbo setups wouldn't have cats before the turbo if at all.

If you made up kits, what kind of price would you be putting on them?

I am supposed to have cats for emmisions though I have never taken a vehicle through inspection, nor have I been ticketed for it. I would like to get rid of them but where they are located would be hell to get to. An aftermarket header would be nice but don't want to spend the money. I'll have to figure it out when the wideband gets here. Ordered an AEM today.
