Am looking Into Purchasing a jeep TJ. Like most of us jeep fanatics we have a pretty good idea what to look for. In 2000 jeep ungraded the 5 spleen to the nv3550. Most of the jeeps I have been looking at in my price range are prior to this change. It may seem crazy but would a stock 6-speed bolt into a 97-99 TJ or nv3550? Did jeep modified the engine backing to accommodate these different trans? Or if I'm going to replace should I just move to nv4550? Or should I just man up and shoot for a 2000? Haha there are some very nice jeeps prior to "00 for half the price of a '00 and Sahara at that.
