Totaled 03 TJ Rebuild

Hey everyone.

Right now I'm in the process of rebuilding my totaled TJ. This will be a slow build but hopefully not too slow.

Before:

After the accident:

My jeep was a write-off and was destined for the junker. I bought her back with plans to part it out but I changed my mind.

My build:
- To get it back on the road. (Done)
- 35's (Planning)

Jeep completed March 15 2012

Me and my dad removed the front fenders and grill and we just got a better look at the damage. Pretty extensive.
But I got another frame from a 2004 TJ. Also got Passenger and Driver airbags.
Lastly, I bought myself a little upgrade, NP241.

Some pics as promised:

If you notice, my Jeep saved a little souvenir from the other vehicle. (Tow hook)

If you don't mind my asking, how much did you get it back for? I'm looking at it and trying to figure out in my mind how much you could part the obvious things out for like the hard top, the doors, etc. I wish I had bought my last vehicle back but they didn't even give me the option and it was my only vehicle, so I couldn't afford to prolong the process at all.

Nice work saving your Jeep. Looking forward to progress...

Thanks for the PM. I can't respond until I clear my inbox out or re-up my membership (which it won't let me do for some reason). That's pretty amazing! If anything happens to mine, that's certainly something I'm going to consider.

Your hard top and full doors alone are probably worth about $1800 to the right person, but I'm glad you decided to rebuild her the way you want to. Great opportunity! I can't wait to see this one piece by piece.

No problem. I honestly couldn't let the jeep go.
It is, it also helps that my parents are letting me use the garage for however long I need it. phew.

My plans with the frame are to clean it up, and throw some Por15 on it.
Stay tuned for some updates.

Would love to see the progress of rebuilding your TJ. Good luck!

Good work so far, I feel lucky to have a straight frame for my salvage build . As for painting the frame, I would suggest wire wheeling any of the rust/bubbling then hitting the whole thing with ~60 grit sanding discs. I would also look into Chassis Saver as opposed to POR-15, quite a bit cheaper and tons of support on this site.

Cheers :cheers2:
