Hey everyone, with summer fastly approaching i figured it would be a good time to begin to document my build. I will start by telling you that i am only 18 years old. I am currently in college so money is tight. This will most likely be a slow build but i am hoping i can accomplish what i would like to. I am open to any criticism and feel free to give me advice.

History
I purchased my jeep in august of 2012. It is a 1997 tj 4.0l automatic with 157,000 miles with a hard and soft top. A bought it after i sold my mustang. When i purchased it it had a 3 inch suspension lift with 32 inch goodyear mtr/k on procomp d windows. It had smittybilt tube fenders, corner and rocker gaurds. I love to go offroading and i want to make my jeep a little more capable. i am only about 2 hours from rausch creek and plan to go a lot over the summer.

Plans

repairs:
-Frame repair- around the rear lower control arm mount there is some rot starting to form. ( rest of the frame is pretty solid)

drivetrain:
-Dana 44/ford 8.8 rear axle swap
-hp dana 30 front axle
(i am not sure about gearing or lockers yet, input is welcome)
-sye and cv shaft (maybe, im not sure if i will get one yet or not. i am not planning on lifting it any higher that the current 3 inches and i do not have and vibes.)
-vanco big brake kit?

Body/interior:
-highline front smittybilt tube fenders
-trim tub in rear and highline rear flare
-bestop highrock rear bumper- DONE
-poison spyder trail stinger
-rampage bowless soft top- DONE
-Cj tailgate

audio/electrical:
-cobra cb radio-DONE
-upgraded speakers in sound bar-DONE
-Jk grill turn signal
-lights underneath (rock lights)- DONE

armor/skids:
-savvy gts
-ucf transfer case skid plate (NO body lift)
-front and rear diff covers (probably SOLID)
-rocker guards- DONE
-corner guards- DONE

Suspension:
-keep same 3 inch coils
-add .5 inch spacer on front
-bilstein 5100 shocks
-currie adjustable control arms
-adjustable track bars

Tires/wheels:
35 inch goodyear wrangler mtr's with kevlar
procomp black d window wheels 15x8 3.75 backspacing-DONE

Recovery/saftey:
Hi lift jack-DONE
D-rings- DONE
tool bag/first aid kit- DONE

pictures comming in a minute

Put some new brake pads on a couple days ago, did a coolent flush and got an oil change.

This morning I went out to move the jeep and I put my foot on the brake and it goes all the way to the floor. I then heard a leaking sound. I blew a steel brake line. My brake lines are a little rusty and it just wore through in one area. I'm fixing that as soon as possible. So this is how she sits now

Got the brake line all fixed and took her for a drive today. For a while now I have noticed a bumping noise coming from the rear. After investigating I found that my rear driver side shock bushing is shot and the shock is moving around a little. I ran out of daylight today but I will probably put a new bushing in tomorrow

My buddy just did the the same axles swap with the a 97 TJ and we tried bleeding the the brakes but they Aren't working. Probably need a bigger master cylinder right? Because we bled the breaks like 5 times and its not working

We're you adding fluid while bleeding because if the master fluid level gets to low it lets air get back into the lines

With my first year of college just about done now I can start saving some money for some "real" jeep mods. Hopefully this summer It will see axle swaps some adjustable CA and highlines. Man I feel like I'm talking to myself!

I removed my rear flares today and I definatly like the stance a lot more now. I don't know how PA law enforcement will like it though.
