Sorry if this was already covered John, but why a JK D30 and not a JK D44 rubi axle? As you know I'm in the JK D44 front axle market right now, but was just curious on your thoughts of the JK D30 and why you prefer that over the 44...

I've done some research and it seems that JK D30 is still a massive upgrade compared to the TJ D30, even the TJ D44. I've noticed there are a lot of them on the market and a LOT cheaper then what people are asking for their JK D44s.

I've thought about just picking up a JK D30, but I struggle to follow through since I've always said that if I'm going to go through all the work and fabrication.. and money, then I might as well just go big.

Well Brad, the Jeep is a driver not a Hardcore wheeler. I have a solid Rig for that. The JK30 I plan on building will be strong enough to hold 37s if i decide to stay on track and run the 37s. If not 35s or smaller will be great. I can do all my own fabrication so, I do not have the added expenses of labor.

JK D30 build sheet.

External sleeves like my Rubi 44
1/4 lower CA brackets, JJS housing kit
CO mounts, and inner C gussets with built in track bar bracket, and front AR mounts. Cryo treated R&P, and Chromo shafts.

Dual JJs mid arms, and custom upper arms, up front.

Then simple leaf swap in the rear. With traction bar if needed.

I can do all that work to a JKD30 for under what a JKHP44 would cost.

That's what I thought... as well as a much bigger after market for lockers and shafts. If I can't find a JK D44 for the right price by summer, I'll probably go the JK D30 route since my jeep won't ever see anything larger then 37s and I'll be running 35s for a few years.

Looks sick Hendrix!! Are you going to run any rear flares or just leave the opening as is?

Thinking about Armoring it up, then a flat flair or factory.

I really do not know yet. I want to find some used LJ corner armor to cut up and build some custom corners out of, then weld the armor to the sides and corner like the "Jagar" project by RR. I really like the welded look. It's so clean that way. Or I can have set made, but the radious will be a little flat breaks every 1/2 or so. I could probably clean up the radious with a flap disk and a DA.

The bed looks great! My corners are made with a series of bends in a brake. cant really tell when you look at them! Next time I have a corner off I will take a pic of the inside of the bend, it is somewhat noticeable there but not on the outside!

too bad you are not closer, I would have my guy bend some for ya!

My guy says he can do the same, I just did not know how it would look.

Do you remember the size of the radious?

Thanks, I never thought of that. I also have the cut out from the comp cut on my other rig. Guess that would work as a pattern also.

A simple set of factory flares is all that is needed for this project. Keep with the "factory look" theme. You want people to have to do a double take to figure out what you did and how you did it. The DD is in the details.

I know, I know, I am trying to stay on track.....I have so many things I want to do to her to make her so sweet.

I still want to make her a Rat Rod. I plan on welding a chain together to make the grille supports, I plan on using black and red on the COs, I have thought about having beadlocks made out of the JK Moabs. Then do powdercoated red rock rings and black wheels. Then a red metallic insert in the hood and hard top roof, the Jeep on the tailgate, with a red metallic custom cage. All on a Flat black body. With frenched stock tail lights.

I added the pictures to the first page with a little description. Big update on Sunday......

Moar........pictures.

I got the other bed side tacked all together, and the swing out hinge dimples removed from the factory corner panel. I have decided to armor the bed and cab panel with custom made armor. Then weld all of it on and smooth the welds and seal up the armor to body seams prior to painting. Once all that is done I will move on to either deciding stock flares or tube flares.
