How is the Banks header treating you since the last one?

How about the 35" BF GoodRich All Terrains? I have always had good experience with them, but have been reading mixed reviews about them lately. Thoughts?

Jason (Ziptie) is still up hunting Elk right now, he'll chime in when he gets back. But the recent Banks header on his Jeep seems to be holding up so far.

Also, the BFG AT's seem to be working out. We will get some more mud and snow testing in within the comings months, but they are a different animal off road. They don't bite as hard in the mud which means more wheel speed and sometimes momentum, but they sure float nicely in the snow and the extra tread blocks and siping seem to grab onto roots and rocks well. They are also very quite on the road.

Where Jason is now (pic from last weekend)

Some spring snow (mashed potatoes) wheeling:

Thanks for the response. I am leaning toward a 35" BFG A/T as my next tire and need to also get rid of my stock exhaust manifold.

You bet, and I'll remind him to chime in when he gets back.

I just read all 21 pages so far and I'm digging the build. You guys have done an awesome job!! I'd like to make it out to Moab one year, but being all the way down here in Florida, it probably won't happen.. One question, what do those flat fenders cost?

Thanks! Moab would definately be a long trip from Florida, but it would be a very fun trip, I would recommend trying it at least once.

The fenders are $184 with free shipping within the US.

thanks,

Mike

Awesome job. I just read the whole thread. I just completed the same build lol. I posted it up, and someone notified me of your thread. We did almost the same thing. I got my idea from a guy called lumberjack jeep on expedition portal forum. The name TJ6 is just too coincidental lol. I think that my friend who recommended it to me may have seen your thread before giving me the name lol.
I wish I had seen your thread before building mine. Lots of great info in here. My budget was pretty limited though, so crusher corners etc were custom made from aluminum.

Mine was built with Moab in mind as well. Can't wait to get back to try it out.

Cheers from a fellow Crazy a** with a grinder

NICE JOB!!!!! That really looks and turned out awesome, thanks for the link. Just curious, I see you're in Kelowna, did you get the aluminum from Aqualu? Also on a side note, there is a really cool magazine (4WD Magazine) that is based out of your town.

Hope to see ya in Moab!

I bought the aluminum from a local metal supplier. The beadlocks are from Aqualu, and I bought a landcruiser tub from him 18 years ago. lots of good stuff there.

I know of the magazine yes. One of the guys from the magazine is on our local forum up here.

We'll be in Moab again mid sept 2011

Nice work on your TJ-6 build! Thanks for the kind words on my build. I am very happy with the jeep. It is not to big for Washington wheeling and works great for the family and extended trips into the woods (hunting). The BFG’s are working well for me. I like them on the road at 70 mph, and they worked great in Moab. They are not a mud tire but are working for me. I will be testing them much more in the mud this winter. I do use them in the mud I just came out of the woods with about 1” of mud on my hood and top after hunting for 2 weeks. They do very good in the snow also. My favorite wheeling is in the snow so I am happy with them. It will be interesting how they handle the spring mud (it is like peanut butter). I will not have as much bite but think I will be just fine, and I might have more fun than I did with mud tires. It is all give and take and I am having a great time running the AT’s.

One more thing we are on Facebook now! We will be posting up info on product, group trips, and what’s going on at MCE. Singe up as our friend and stay in the loop We also hit the woods all the time and welcome new people on our runs. Come alone and wheel with the group at MCE.

[QUOTE=justanotherjpr;10422672]How is the Banks header treating you since the last one?

[QUOTE]

The new banks header is working well so far. I have had two crack and they do send me new ones every time. Every new one is a bit different than the last, so they are trying to make it better. Would I recommend getting a Banks… no. They will not give you your money back, just a new header. This bothers me considering there adds lead you to believe that there headers will not crack. If I was to do it again I would swap in a later model two peace header and mod the exhaust pipe. Good luck, I hope Banks products and service is working out better for others.
