TimV's 2003 Rubicon build

EDIT: Wheeling pics on page 2.

Someone might be interested in my Jeep, so I might as well post up my build.

When I brought it home in July, it had a 2" OME suspension lift on it, with some near bald 265/75/R16 BFG A/T's. 150k miles on the clock, but ran awesome. Heres a picture in the driveway just after bringing it home and cleaning it up a bit.

After getting it tagged and insured, the first thing I wanted to do was go wheeling. Decided to get a UCF engine and transfer case skid before going, just for some extra protection. Probably a wise choice on my part. Had a ton of fun wheeling, but I knew I wanted to upgrade. A couple of wheeling pictures:

I had been eyeing up the Metalcloak fenders for a long time, ever since I saw them in person. I knew I wanted them, but I didn't know what size tire I wanted with them. 35's or 37's. Ended up finding a set of 4 35" BFG KM2's on craigslist for $525 with 500 miles on them. Settled that debate rather quickly. Picked up a set of the Arched fenders shortly after that.

The day after everything came in, I decided to take one last wheeling trip. Just so I could see the difference after getting the new stuff on. Last trail on the day, I sank it almost to the doors in a mud hole. Took in about 1.5 quarts of water and mud into the oil. Pretty much wrecked the engine, and had to get it towed home. Good to have friends with a trailer. Picked up a used engine with 80k miles on it for $750 out of an 04 TJ. Decided to swap the engine in at the same time I did the fenders. Actually worked out pretty good that way. Still about 35 hours of labor on my part to get everything done, but it beats spending my hard earned money to have someone else do it. Picture during the engine swap:

Now its all back together again, a month after first sinking it. What a transformation it has been. Here are a few pictures. Sorry, no wheeling pictures yet.

Upgrades by me up to this point:
UCF engine and transfer case skid
DND bumper and winch mount
Warn 9.5TI winch
35" BFG KM2 tires
Black Rock wheels
Metalcloak arched fenders w/ 6" flare

Thanks for reading, and sorry about some picture quality, as some were cell phone pictures.

Looking good. I just started "stage one" of my Rubi, I'm hoping "stage two" will include the metalcloak overlines and various other goodies.

Yes, still running 4:10's. I am still happy with the power, so I don't see a need to switch right now.
