Definitely some pucker there, but it was a lot of fun. My Corbeaus should arrive tomorrow!

Thanks for the compliment, hopefully some of it helps.

My Corbeau Baja RS front seats arrived today! I'll try to find time to get em in probably next week. Also searching for a new car so I can retire the Jeep from DD duty and get better MPG. (in addition to the TJ, I'm not getting rid of) Thinking probably a base model Civic with a standard transmission to keep it under $20k and get ~30mpg.

It'll take a lot of miles to pay off a car, even at 30mpg.

100k miles/15mpg x $4/gallon= $26,667 in gas.

100k miles/30mpg x $4/gallon= $13,333

$26,667-$13,333=$13,334

...obviously making payments is a little different.... my point is, once the added insurance, maintenance, etc.. is calculated, it's hard to add a car to save money. You might get better mpg, but long-term it's hard to save.

Even taking by the month.... if you drove 3k miles/month, you'd only save $400. Take out car payments & insurance & you're already behind.

You could spend the money for a new car on little things to make your TJ a perfect DD for you.

Just food for thought

My $2500 (Civics fetch a premium around here) 98 Civic with a standard gets 35MPG at worst and gets me where I need to go. Why bother buying a fancy daily driver if all you are looking for is to save money. Of course things break here and there on an older car but if you fix it yourself you still save a lot regardless and it puts way less miles on the Jeep. Mine has paid for itself in less then a year even with the repairs I have had to make on it.

Oh & for the seats. The easiest way to pull them (imo), is just undo the 4 nuts holding the seat to the top of the slider. A ratcheting wrench or a 1/4" drive will fit on them nicely, then you're not having to worry about the brackets, too.

I'm getting 27.5 mpg in my 330 with AWD, the AC on, and a mix of highway and congested city.

I think you can find something a bit nicer than a base civic and still get the mpg you'd like.

I don't even own a jeep anymore

Along with the gas mileage I'm looking for something that is a little more reliable than my TJ. It hasn't given me and problems lately but I always feel like something is going to inconvenience me. Unfortunately I'm going to have to finance something as I don't have the cash to pay up front. I think I may have made my mind up already. I plan to keep my next car for a good while.

How does this group feel about a Hybrid for a DD w/ Jeep on the side lines?

Hybrid = 1 man card, to be surrendered immediately upon purchase of said hybrid vehicle.
