Test Run @ the slabs

I towed jay's jeep out to the slabs for a little test run after the build up. He broke a front pinion yoke fairly early so we baja'd around in 2wd. Still a fun trip though, here are the pics

Any idea why the yoke let go? What size yoke was it?.. 1350? Did it take the driveshaft with it? That actually looks like a pretty clean break... and the rest of the pics definately look like you had fun. Super nice rig!!

jay can shine a little more lite on this but here is a quick run down of why the yoke broke. All the parts were brand new including the yoke. Jay is running a really beefy driveshaft from High Angle Driveline, the shaft and u joint were unaffected by the break. The break happened because the front axle was experienceing really bad axle wrap (42s and 117:1 crawl will do that) and bound up the drive shaft, the u joint and drive shaft were so strong that the pinion yoke let go.

I love that YJ. You need to put those pics in the "Suspension Articulation" thread.
