The teenagers slow but steady build.

A little backstory first. In 2010 i bought my first Jeep from some small dealership in Glasgow KY. I traded my truck with several problems and the cash earned from working construction over summer (part time) and got a Chili Pepper Red 98 TJ sport. It had around 120k miles on it and had full steel doors and a spice hard top and interior. Completely chromed out (which my dad liked and i just wanted a jeep, learned the hard way). I bought it on the spot and drove the 3 hrs back home.

So for a few months i didnt do anything besides replace the radiator and then finnaly i got a R.C. 2.5 lift with shocks. Same lift i have and i love it to this day.

From here i just left it alone for a while, my parents wouldnt let me do anythign to it, including wheel it, so i just let it be. I wheeled it on some trails or dried up stream beds without them knowing.
Well finnaly i got fed up with not doing anything to it so i told my parents i paid for it and im going to make it my own!
...

So i ran out and finally got some paint (Rustoleum gloss black) and painted the headlight bezels, filler bezel, antenna, hinges for the doors, tailgate and hood. Its not perfect but still beats the chrome. Then i painted the dif covers craftsmen red (representin!). I just took off the light bar and ordered the kc hinge brackets due to the paint chipping off where the mounts were and a Brown Dog MML and zone 1.25 lift in preperation for some future mods.
List of future mods:
Either procomp series 52 or crager soft 8s.
Firestone Destination Mts 33x12.5r15
Flat (or near flat) belly.
BCC Bumpers
Rock Hard Fab sliders.
SYE/DC DS
Custom front 3 link and rear 4 link
8.8
D30 HP
Aussie locker front and selectable locker rear
I know this thread isnt impressive but i figure if i make an impression in anyone in a situation like mine i would be thrilled. I also want a place to receive advice and constructive criticism along with a place to document progress.
As of right now here it is (only have a poser flex shot in some nearby woods)
quick-disco-flex.jpg
and here are my homemade discos

Coming from someone once in your position at the same age with the same Jeep...............

All I can say is big tires are not all theyre cracked up to be. Stock Jeeps are incredible vehicles and I wish I left my BB on 32s instead of going 6" on 35s. With the money at a teenagers disposal anything bigger than 32s on the AX15 with stock gears is not completely doable in my experience

I wish I had gone bumpers, axle upgrade, winch, fenders, harness/bucket seats and a cage before I did anything else. I did a 6" and 35s and I just wore the Jeep out so prematurely it was stupid. It just sits now. Granted I have a Dana 60 and a Sterling 10.5 for it because I dont feel the stock axles and the suspension I have now is worth redoing.

Dont wear out the Jeep prematurely because of not doing things the right way. Truuuuuuust me.

Well i decided against the BCC im going to go with them for rocker guards but im going to go with the SRC front and rear bumpers. Later on when i go to 33s il get the swing away addon for it. I know smittybuilt dosnt have the best rep but with the deal im getting on them and free lights its to good to pass up.

And not really but after driving through a river and flexing on a huge rock I realize I forgot to put the washer on the driver side on and it pulled the bushing through and the pin is stuck so I gotta get that out tonight and put the bolts back in till I get a new pin.

I like the way you're going with that Jeep... I hate chrome, so nice to see you eliminated all of it. And glad to see you take it offroad and stood up to your parents lol (I'm 18, so I totally feel you) And I know the pain of paying for college and ur Jeep addiction (if you're going to college)

Good luck!
