We ran Tabasco twister and it took all day but it's a great trail. The lead jeep drove it with out issue but I broke so early in the day that I didn't get to climb but one of the ledges without assistance because of the broken axle but we will be back again next year.

Thats another fun trail. Las cruces has lots of great trails within a 30 mile radius.

We stay at the Paleozoic Pathways BLM area. We have several non street legal jeeps. I did run off broadway years ago at a chile challenge event. I love las cruces jeepin and eating at La Posta. We come out here about once a year its on our yearly rotation. More pics to come and hopefully another trip in the next 3-4 months.

We live out in west Texas so there is at least a 3 hour drive to a good wheelin spot and 5-6 hours to Las Cruces.

I'll try and get the pics posted tonight I was worthless when I got home last night.

In other new my gas tank skid took a beating and held up really well in all of its red oxide glory. However the main skid folded like a tortilla. You may not be able to tell but it's bent up about 2" in the middle. I didn't realize how unsupported it was back there hopefully I can get it straightened out and braced up. I need that this to last a while.

I didn't throw it away but I would have had to butcher up the floor to get the atlas in. I liked it but it had to go. The atlas is pig compared to the 231.

Finally got the rear end ripped apart. The damage is fairly extensive.

Axle shaft
Caliper
Brake pads
E brake pads
Shims on the drive side of the diff
The broken stub is currently stuck in the Detroit despite hammering the crap out of it. I can't get it to move in to take the c clip out. I'll try the press at work and see what happens. The axle twisted to a point inside the diff side gear. I wish I had $3000 for a 5x4.5 Dana 60.

Thank you atlas

But really.. That sucks man. Hopefully you can save the Detroit.

But alot of times when people (2 of my friends included) put 4to1 kits or atlas cases in there rigs with 1/4 ton axles. They tend to start Breakin more and more parts alot easier.

I'm not saying you don't. But people dont realize all the extra "torque" that comes with the "lower gearing". it really takes a toll on things without even realizing your stressing them more than before

Thanks man my only part in them is sanding them down doing the full weld that still isn't finished.

I ordered the Super 88 kit now if only I can get the broken piece out of the Detroit. Any ideas.

the original thread on this jeep has more pics of the build process on the fenders, favorite feature i built on the rig. (shoulda just fully welded em to begin with, call it an experimental)

can you disassemble the detroit? sounds like that side gear is gonna be toast anyways. post a pic of the detroit, might be able to come up with some other ideas
