You're on the right track, loosening the body mounts and lifting the body up will allow access. It looks like a hard bead to run but it's actually not bad. The inverted welding will be much more difficult at the novice level.

There is enough room to weld as is, just takes a bit of creative positioning of the gun. Welded everybit of suspension under mine without lifting the tub.
Now welding the exhaust in was more adventure some.

Once I seated the bracket against the frame rail I realized what I was thinking the other day when I posted here was not an issue. Today I fiddled around and now know how I'm gonna weld and run the lines. The overhead welds I did on my frame notch came out well so I think I'll be ok. I'd same I'm at the intermediate level. Haha

So I got the routing of the lines figured out but not sure how I want to secure them. Suggestions??

Am I hijacking your thread? Should I move this conversation to mine?

You can use P style clamps or the stock clamps just bend a strap and weld it to the frame and shove the plastic clips that secure the OEM lines under the strap.

I was able to just move the lines and use the same clamps. No worries

Going to outboard my shocks tonight after work. 2 questions please....

1. Did you set your frame shock towers normal to your lower links at ride height (as opposed to vertical or some other angle)?
2. Did you set your Poly axle shock mounts parallel to your lower links (normal to your towers)?

Thanks!

The shock towers themselves I set with the jeep sitting on its own weight at roughly a 90* angle from the lower arms.

Depending what length shocks you will be using you then need to set your tower and your lower mounts appropriately to maximize travel.

ie. With the jeep sitting at ride height while using 12" shocks I set the tower and the axle mount to show 6" of shaft allowing for 6 up and 6 down.

Granted I dont get that sort of uptravel right now but thats because Im hitting my crossmember with the axle truss which will be addressed.

Nonetheless try and keep your axle mount parallel to the ground and out of the rocks.

Here is what I was planning to do...my lower arm hits my frame which is what sets my up travel (theoritically...I doubt the coil can even compress that much). I was going to use this to set how high to mount the shock on the frame, and add 1/4-1/2" so the shock never bottoms out. The shock lenght will determine droop. I went with 11" shocks in case I ever want to go a tad higher. I may need coil retainers. We shall see. As for the axle brackets, my initial thought was to do what you said for ground clearance. But won't the shock bind if the axle mount bolt is not parallel to the frame tower bolt? I guess it depends on how much play there is in the rubber bushings. I will have to play around with this and see what I have to work with...thanks for the response.

To answer your question though no the new tires have not been mounted.

No real progress has been made since all my time is spent renovating my house so I can move in.

Potential for some real goodies soon though
