Surfer's Rubicon build

I traded in my 2010 JKU Rubi for a 2012 JK Rubi. So far I have my Poison Spider tube fenders left over from the 2010 and will install them when I can get them re-painted to match the black forest green. Thursday morning I get my rancho 3" trail system lift installed with Fox Racing Teraflex tuned 2.5"-4" remote resevoir shocks. I have an AEV snorkel on back order and will install it as soon as it shows up. All I need to be ready for my next Jeep Jamboree is a CB, cant wait to get this thing ready for some trails!

I guess it would help to have a pic of it in stock form.

The bus is a 78 VW. It has a new rebuilt 2.0 engine with full Accuair air ride suspension. Everything mechanical has been replaced or rebuilt so it runs great! The only problem I have is an electrical bug that is draining the battery, I even put an electrical cut off switch and the battery is still being drained so I'm assuming its a bad ground. At this point all I have left to do is body, paint, and interior.

Good luck on your jeep build, but to address your electrical issue.... Got a multimeter? Disconnect the positive battery terminal, then series your meter between the positive post and the positive lead that was hooked up there, have your meter set to read Amps. If you have a drain, you will read some current on the meter, note how much it is. Now go to your fuse panel and start pulling fuses one at a time. After you pull a fuse observe if you get a drop in the original current reading you have isolated which circuit is drawing power, it may be more than one. Hope this was helpful.

My Poison Spider fenders were dropped off at the painters yesterday. I should have them back by the end of the week.

Some pics after the Rancho lift and Fox shock install. Now just a waiting game for my fenders. Looks much higher than 3", I hope it settles some.

Why did you trade in the unlimited? Any particular reasons?

I wanted the new Jeep mainly for the new engine and I wanted to switch to an automatic. I went with a 2 door this time because it seems they are more nimble from watching them on the wheeling trips I have been on. I miss the room on the JKU but I can't wait to get this on the trails.

I can understand that. I switched from the xj to the YJ and sacrificed a lot if storage room, but it doesn't compare to the feeling you get with the top down! Looks good so far!

And I would think that the lift seems larger because yours is a two door. I remember reading that they just make one lift for 2/4 door wranglers and the actual measurement is based on the 4 door which would obviously be heavier.

My poison spider tube fenders are painted and ready for install, hopefully I will be able to install them this weekend. I also ordered poison spider rocker knockers that I want to paint with roll on bed liner. Does anyone have a good suggestion for tough roll on bed liner?

Tube fenders and rocker knockers are on. The install was a huge pain on the rear fenders. I have never been so disappointed in the way an install was engineered! Very disappointed but they look good and will work with my modifications. Time for 35's!!
