Why shouldn't I swap the TJS for a TJJ?

all you need is the axle end, the rest is the same, It'll likely save a bit on shipping costs.

It's only $7 to return it to Gerald @ Savvy, already boxed up and ready to Go.... Gerald said he'd get me a TJJ...just as easy for me to do a full swap... I got weeks before I'm done putting everything back together, so not worried about time...

I still have to figure out what I'm doing in the back with my shocks and mounts... that's a bigger concern of mine right now.

How much gap should there be when reinstalling Pitman arm? This is the Non-Drop that I reinstalling... i've never installed one before, so didn't know how far I should be able to get the arm on the steering box splines. If this isn't far enough how would I go about getting it further up?

Could I run the RS99028 with my current lower shock mount setup (I assume I'd still have to worry about the can hitting the spring perch), until I'm ready to outboard? Unless you want to sell me one of your's Mudb8 and I'll find someone to help me cut and weld... (BTW my axle tube is a little thicker than stock...would that make a difference?)

I'm thinking if I'm going to do something with these, it would be better to do before I put any miles on them. I can get the RS99028's for just a bit under $200 shipped ... I suspect I could get most of my money back for my RS999062 if they weren't actually "used" (I think they were just under $90/ea shipped)

Could use some opinions from any folks who might actually be following my build thread.

Hey Wade, I don't know how much gap there SHOULD be, but I just checked mine and it looks like yours. The gap is around 7/16 - 1/2" or so. Stock pitman arm, never been off the Jeep. My guess is if you have the nut torqued to spec, you're OK

Don't worry about the correct gap. Just torque the nut, the splines are tapered and will dictate the distance.

Nice looking jeep btw.

yep they would hit the can and be a bit short on uptravel, I'll see about making you a pair this weekend...
you'll need to move your brake line mounting tabs tho.

THANKS Mudb8!!!! I really appericiate the help... And since I have more $ than brains, skills or time, I'm happy to have someone with more of those things than I help me along. 8-)

Now I got myself wondering if I got the wrong ones up front too... Since they haven't been installed yet either maybe I should double check the length on them too! I'm on my iPhone, so can't pop open the PDF link right this second.

The fronts are:

RS999061
S42 Upper Mount, XP4 Lower Mount
16.25" Collapsed
26.625" Extended
10.375" Travel

Which after doing a little Excel filtering of copy and paste from the PDF (I'm more of a computer geek than a Jeep one), the RS999061 appears to be the longest traveling of the Rancho 9000XL shocks with the S42/XP4 Mounting configuration. I don't know other mounts are also an option. There are 168 variations of the RS9000XL.

Not "Build" specific (since nothing happened over the weekend and just waiting on parts, and to figure out my shock part # situation, any update Mudb8? ), but I picked up a new old unused 60Gal compressor over the weekend. I didn't have one before and had been doing everything by hand. I just need to get some 240v and get the hoses hooked up and I'll be good to go.

I haven't had time to dig into the front shocks, but the 200 bucks for the new rears isn't bad at all judging from from what they cost the shop to buy them... I did have time to check on those saturday, just never got it posted for ya....
