Well - its been almost 3 years, and, at the beginning I stated that I will not modify my new LJ .. I am such a liar

The day I picked it up:



Mostly still stock - just a new back bumper



Installed a fuse-box and tool right beside the fuse panel



Proceeded to drive across Canada



Installed Aussie locker



Installed Airaid throttle body spacer



Installed 1 1/4" wheel spacers



And with a 2" RE lift, I fit my new 32" BFGs



No close-up pictures of my Bushwacker hood and fender protectors, no close-ups of my head-light guards or my tail-light guards. No pictures of my door sill and tail stainless guards. No pictures of my air-bag setup .. but, they are all on there. Just ask, and I can add more pictures!

When I ran the stock tires, in first gear it was really jerky .. 2 gear wasn't much better. After putting on my 32" tires, it really helped to smooth out the drive. The throttle-body spacer seemed to boost my gas milage by almost 100km / tank.

Right now my gas milage has dropped significantly / tank. I will be doing some maintenance on my Jeep - new spark plugs, clean my throttle-body and spacer. It might be due to my 32" tires - but - I might as well do something to see if I can make it better

So - I made some new goodies for my Jeep. I replaced the rear bumper again with another design and this weekend I fabb'd up a new front bumper. Its not finished yet, but, it is getting closer.

I will be capping the bumper-ends with some 1/8" CheckerPlate and I haven't decided if I want to put tow-tabs on the front or build a stinger. If I go with the tow-tabs, I will design them to be a steering-box protector. If I go with the stinger, then again, I would want to protect the steering box from impacts.

And what's with the title? I was hoping to see a cut up LJ w/ stretched wheelbase

Having three Jeeps in the household each one has been given a nickname. This one has finally settled on "The Stretch". My white one is "The Monster" and the little lady's hasn't really been named yet ... still have to come up with something better than That damn thing is broken

I decided to leave the bumper as is. That is TJ-bumper-design Rev3. I have already started designing TJ-bumper-design Rev4 that will be about 1 1/4" shorter (not stick out quite as far from the frame-rails) with a couple more bends just for strength-factor. If I like how the next design turns out, it will get a brush-guard, steering-box-guard and D-ring shackle-mounts. The one that is currently on my Jeep will probably be sold off to make room for the next design. Nothing really wrong with it, just not as happy with it as I feel I should be.




So, that picture above of the bumper that I designed and welded up, well, it is painted now and I found an 8000# Warn winch for it, put on some new driving lights and it is on the Jeep

I was bored so I took some time and drew-up a CB antenna mount in AutoCAD, sent it to the laser, bent it on the little Ursviken 220-ton CNC break, primer'd it and painted it. Then put the antenna on - looked good. I made it so that it can be placed on either the driver-side or the passenger side of the Jeep. Currenty, it is on the passenger-side, I may choose to re-route the wire and run it on the driver's side with one of the other brackets that I made.

Then installed a CB-radio in the foot-well of the front-passenger-side. Also installed a switch so that I can choose when my interior lights come on ...

And here are the pictures as promised. How the mount looks tucked tight between the tail-light, the body, the hinge and the wire runs smoothly between the top of the light-housing and the mount.

And, a simple install of the CB-Radio on the bottom edge of the dash. Seems to do well enough there. Yes, the seat does touch the CB when I move the seat forward to put people in the rear, but, it isn't putting alot of pressure onto the CB so I am not too worried about it. I still need to figure out a good place to clip the microphone. So far, I haven't picked a spot, so, when I am not using the system, the mic sits in my glove-box.
