Stone's '93 YJ Build

Updated:

Start:

As it sits now:

__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _______________________________

I just got this '93 YJ from my dad. He bought it new in '93, and has taken very good care of it. It has 106,000 miles on it, and he has barely driven it since he got his new F-150, so he told me I should take it if I'll actually drive it, so that's the plan. If it were any other Jeep, I'd cut it up and go all out with it, but being that it's in such good shape and something I'd like to keep, I'm going to do a somewhat mild build.

And so it begins...

As it sits now:

Updates to come as I start to work on it.

SOA with a D44 and 9", 4.56s, locked front and rear, 35s, and a cage. That's what I'm thinking as of now, but that can always change.

EDIT - Also a bigger trailer, been shopping around, but I'm waiting for a good deal.

Compared to what I really wanted, yes. I would love to do a comp cut with one tons, but I can't bring myself to cut up a Jeep this nice. Just got my Premium membership too, looking forward to start the build!

Today I went and picked up my axles, D44 and 9" out of a '76 EB.

The rear had a leaky pinion seal, so when it sat the nastiness just built up on it

I didn't bring home any of my tools from work, but Monday I'm going to bring some things home and hopefully get started on the axles!

Was my girlfriends, she's actually the one that got me interested in Jeeps. She sold it to get a better daily driver. Funny thing is, I'm building this one similar to the way hers was.

Good luck. That is a very clean YJ, and ditto on the mild build comment. That would be a decent size build for the trails here in NC.

The family and I will be moving to the Tampa area as soon as I gradumante college, which should be in 1.5 years. Can you recommend places to live, or not to live, around Tampa? We really like the St. Pete area, but open to suggestions.

IMO this is a mild build, as I had to convince myself not to build it much more. This isn't my DD, just something to have fun with.

There's good and bad areas everywhere. I'd just figure out where you're going to be working first. If you get a job in Tampa and live in St Pete, it'll be a horrible drive every day to and from work.

Wow, that's a clean slate. Looking forward to this. And I think you'd be happier with 4.88 gears.
